Some students at LISA Academy in Springdale
had fun making a great big…(we're talking
HUGE!) art project: they painted a mural on
the side of their school.
Their school happens to be in the downtown
Springdale arts district. When the school found
out that the downtown group was looking for
artists to paint some murals around town, they
applied and were awarded a spot along with the
other professional artists.
"It was a great way to be part of the
community we're planted in," said LISA's
Community Outreach and Public Relations
coordinator, Hannah Philpot.
But then came the decision, what in the world
were they going to
paint on the big,
blank side of the
building near
the school's
playground? And
how in the world
would they do it?
It all started with a
napkin.
Hannah had an idea,
drew it on a napkin, and took
it to one of the school's art teachers, Nick
Hammond.
Mr. Nick (as the students call him), was excited
to help out. He worked on a design and the
details and "made it cooler," Hannah said.
