With your child, look
through the newspaper to
find pictures of things
that begin with the same
sound as the letter
D in dolphin.
Point to the number
9 in the newspaper.
Have your child say the
number and, if it's large
enough, have your child
trace the number.
With your child find and
circle an uppercase letter
D. Then, on the same
page, find and circle a
lowercase letter d.
Connect the two
with a line.
Look at pictures of
animals in the newspaper.
Ask your child if the
animals live on land or
water. Count how many
of each. Which kind of
animal are there more
pictures of?
On one newspaper page,
find and circle the letters
that spell the word
dolphin. Connect the
circles, or dots, in order
from d to n, to spell
the word dolphin.
Say each letter as you
come to it. (Explain that
ph makes the f sound.)
