CAMPUS LEADERSHIP
TO THE NEXT LEVEL
What happens when you combine a chapter
president with a leader in Silver Spurs?
You get an awesome powerhouse of leadership and dedication.
Andrew Gilbert '18 is not only the current chapter president
but was also the chairman for the Silver Spurs' annual Spring
Jam concert benefiting the Neighborhood Longhorn Program.
Throughout the spring semester, Andrew, along with a
committee of Silver Spurs members, worked to secure a venue,
find corporate sponsors, fundraise and build a lineup of country
music's finest – including Flatland Calvary.
All in all, they raised over $100,000 for the Neighborhood
Longhorn Program, a first in the history of the event. They
hosted the event at the historic ACL Moody Theatre with
over 1,700 attendees. When asked about the success of the
program, Andrew had this to say:
"I was very blessed and lucky to be put in a
position like that, and poured my heart out the
most that I possibly could. Thank y'all so much for
the support since day one; it meant a lot to me
and I'm glad it worked out. I also loved looking
up from the stage and seeing so many of our guys
there; I'm still speechless."
What's even more impressive is that Phi Psi members young
and old bought tickets to the event, helped promote the event,
and were supportive not only of Andrew but John (J.T.) Tomlin
'19, our newest rowel. Many will remember what it meant for
Phi Psi to be engaged and a heavy influence in Silver Spurs
and Cowboys. Those days are once again returning, and
anyone who was able to witness it firsthand would have been
thoroughly proud and impressed.
