ALPHA AVALANCHE | TEXAS ALPHA | PHI KAPPA PSI | | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION 2021 continued from front WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? ANNUAL CAMPAIGN RAISES $190,648 The final numbers are in, and the fall 2020 annual campaign, held during the middle of a pandemic, raised $190,648 in gifts and pledges. TAEF President Kelly Fish '77 stated, "We didn't allow the undergrads to use COVID as an excuse for a poor Rush, and they responded. Well, the alumni did not use COVID as an excuse for a weak campaign either. Very few fraternities in the country raise as much as Texas Alpha on an annual basis. It is a testimony to our loyalty and generosity; we are indeed a very strong band of brothers." Special thanks to brothers Rhett Stone '65, Robert Johnson '64 and Scott Noble '81 for making a combined $100,000 gift in response to the $90,648 raised by all other brothers and friends. These funds support the additional expenses of chapter operations due to COVID. They also provide support for scholarships and educational space at the chapter house, and the corpus of the endowment is now growing again after being depleted somewhat during new house construction. TAEF wishes to thank the following brothers and friends for their support: Founders' Society ($10,000 to $50,000) James McGuire '54 Robert Johnson '64 Rhett Stone '65 Candy Stone Scott Noble '81 Spencer McGowan '83 Amici Society ($3,000 to $9,999) Trip Ruckman '64 John Meadows '67 Rob Zivney '68 Kelly Fish '77 Robert Meyer '79 Darrell Spaulding '90 Legacy Society ($1,500 to $2,999) Bill Joor '58 Jim Bartlett '59 Galt Graydon '62 James Malernee '67 Douglas Putney '80 Bill Stokes '80 Todd Ivey '85 Brad Fisher '90 Creed Society ($1,000 to $1,499) David Temple '74 Joe Anderson '77 Ken Treaccar '77 Bill Cheney '79 Dave Roberts '80 Jon Wolkenstein '81 Neil Bowie '83 Michael Hawash '84 Longview Society ($500 to $999) L.J. As we transition into the 2021- 22 academic year, there will be a strong emphasis on professional development, networking and building up mentorship opportunities. When I arrived in Austin in 2017, I pledged to do everything I could to keep Texas Alpha on the forefront of culture and innovation among fraternities, and I intend to ensure that continues. I want to thank every single one of you for your thoughts, phone calls, emails, contributions and dedication to ensuring the experience for these extraordinary young men continues, even as they persevere through a global pandemic. As I shared with our undergraduates, it's now time to set our eyes to the future, add this past year to our resume, and use this experience to forge an even stronger path forward.
