Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 W e started the semester with our entire executive team and our Cardinal Cabinet directors attending Firesides. With it being virtual this year, we were privileged to have all our Chapter's leadership team attend and benefit from the convention. Much of the conference was centered around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). After debriefing Firesides, our Chapter created a new position, DEI chairwoman, that will be piloted by sophomore Mabel Anstine '20. New Hooties Join the Nest This Spring We had the opportunity to participate in Continuous Open Bidding this spring, and Recruitment Chairwoman Lauren Leiker '20 did a fantastic job recruiting four extraordinary new members who are already great additions to our sisterhood. See page 2 for a list of the newest Hooties! They were initiated on April 20, 2021, and New Member Educator Carly Howard '20 has been working with them on their new member education and involvement! Spreading Messages of Hope We partnered with Phi Delta Theta for two events executed by Director of Programming Bergen Cooper '20, Community Service Director Liz Oljten '20, External Philanthropy Chairwoman Quinlan Robke '20, and External Intramural Chairwoman Paige Miranda '20. During the community service event, our members wrote more than 250 letters of encouragement and gratitude to nursing home residents and healthcare heroes. Members of both houses also enjoyed some healthy competition at a fun basketball tournament held a few days later! Having Fun While Living with Purpose Bergen Cooper '20 and the Cardinal Cabinet held our inaugural Purpose Week, where each day of the week we committed to hosting events that embody Chi Omega's values. We studied together for Scholarship Day, held resume workshops for Career and Personal Development Day, did FaceTime with sisters in a different PC, and watched movies in the Rec for Sisterhood Day. We also had a four-square tournament in our parking lot for Campus Activities Day, participated in group walks to raise awareness for Make-A-Wish, which included posting links to donate to Make-A-Wish on Community Service Day, and we ended the week with a fun date party for Friendship Day! Our Chi O Crush spring date party took place at The Manhattan in Aggieville. The theme was Never Close the Yearbook. Social Chairwoman Emma Plankers '20 and Date Party Chairwomen Ashton Kate Davis '20 and Halle Zwetow '20 organized this event so our Chapter could have a fun and safe night! We look forward to getting back to a more comfortable "normal" and hope to see our dedicated alumnae at the Chapter House again soon. Until then, be well, stay safe, and keep Chi Omega ever at heart. Lovingly Yours in Chi Omega, Abby Kate LaSala '19 Chapter President aklasala@ksu.edu (913) 787-4320 Kappa Alpha Chapter Makes the Most of Time Together This Spring Four New Members Join, Actives Focus on Sisterhood and Philanthropy Members of PC '20 at Colbert Hills celebrating Mom's Weekend on March 6! We loved having our moms in Manhattan for the weekend for some much-needed mother-daughter time. Ashley Luecke '20 and Sadie Kossow '20 get fresh air while studying. Sisters have had fun studying together at the house this year and love spending time outside when the weather is nice!
