Their website, www.adl.org, states "After 100 years of fighting bigotry and fostering respect, we are celebrating our successes, while at the same time recognizing that there is still much more work to be done. The theme for our Centennial is Imagine a World Without Hate—a dream we hope to make a reality." The Imagine a World Without Hate™ Video Educator's Guide was June 12, 2013 developed to facilitate middle and high school-aged youth in thinking about the impact of prejudice and hate. Imagine a World Without Hate™ video portrays various noted persons throughout history who believed in fairness and justice for all people. Imagine a world without hate. Imagine Quartzsite without prejudice or hatred. Imagine bullying disappearing from our schools and workplace. Imagine a mayor promoting his town. Imagine council members, (other than volunteer extraordinaire Carol Kelley) actually volunteering at the Food Bank, Salvation Army or the Community Thrift Store. Imagine council members participating in local charitable organizations and their events. Imagine the voices of the community being heard and applauded. Imagine citizens attending council meetings, not just when they're pissed off, but to offer creative solutions to the issues before council. Imagine a mayor visiting state officials bragging up Quartzsite Police Dept., instead of advocating disbanding the whole department. Imagine our leaders (other than Mark Orgeron) showing up at local graduation ceremonies in support of our future generation. If I were to crumble the 20-dollar bill up, would you still want it? If I drop it on the floor and grind it with my shoe, would you still want the 20-dollar bill? Chances are, no matter what I did to the $20 bill, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. You did not place a judgment on the 20-dollar bill for how it looked. We've all been emotionally beat up and stepped on, but our value remains. You are valued as a member of this community. Our core values are those attributes that are so fundamental to civility that none of us would wish to live in a society that lacked them. Let's not crumple up our values. The Town is beginning to the review General Plan, which supports the expresses of the community for the next generation. See article on page 8. Meetings are open to the public. Imagine Quartzsite rising from the ashes of political drama. We can bring the best of who we are into the world every day! A World Without Hate™ video can be seen at http://www.adl. org/imagine.
