Inside 2 Honoring the G.O.A.T. 2-3 Congratulations, Seniors! 4 Alumni Update SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY SPRING 2021 THE AUBURN SIG I hope everybody receiving this newsletter is doing well and staying safe. We had an active summer and fall 2020 at the house and are looking forward to a smooth spring semester. As per our standard policy, we had some painting and minor repairs done over the summer. is past fall, we had to replace the main air conditioning unit in the chapter house as well as handle a minor water leak issue. e contractors and the chapter worked together and got through the repair and renovation well. We have added shades in the dining room, allowing the chapter to hold a chapter meeting while concealing the dining area. e shades offer blackout and glare protection. ey are a welcome addition to minimize the heat in the room. Our next projects include some minor repairs and looking at chapter needs and desires as we move into the next cycle of our normal summer maintenance program. e undergraduates are still under the probation guidelines as set forth by Auburn, and until that is changed, we must maintain a zero-alcohol policy at the house. If you are in town, feel free to drop by, but please follow the current Auburn University and Alabama COVID-19 protocol guidelines. We hope to host alumni brothers and families this fall as Auburn football steps into a new era and direction. War Eagle always! In Hoc, Reid Brown '81 House Corporation President bsareid@hiwaay.net House Corporation Readies House to Host Alumni in Fall Foundation Remains Strong Moving Forward T he Sigma Chi Foundation at Auburn University held its annual meeting on October 13, 2020. Treasurer Bob Benz '60 reported that the foundation currently has assets of approximately $426,000. Wilson Meadows '10 was appointed by the board as assistant treasurer, with the assumption that Wilson will eventually assume the duties of treasurer. e foundation voted to award four scholarships of $2,500 each to undergraduates in the spring 2021 semester. e four recipients are Richmond Maddox '22, Alex Litwin '23, Miller Murchison '22, and Peyton David '23. is is double the amount of scholarships that have been provided in previous years. e foundation also voted to renew and host the scholarship dinner, pending any COVID-19 restrictions. A scholarship committee has been organized by David Bell '88, our scholarship chairman, and the group is working on these items. e board adopted two proposed changes to the foundation's bylaws. First, the number of directors will be increased from five to six. Second, the date of the annual meeting will be changed from a specific date in October to a date to be determined by the board of directors and publicized to members at least three weeks in advance of the meeting. Both proposals were approved by the voting members. e Robert A. Benz White Cross Society had a very successful year in 2020. Contributions for the year exceeded $49,000. ese ongoing contributions from our dedicated alumni and friends helped support the foundation's expansion of scholarships for undergraduates and host the scholarship dinner referenced earlier.
