Delta Gamma at the University of Iowa Spring 2021 INSIDE: Nursing Living Legend p. 2 • Chapter Officers p. 2 • Sustaining Sisterhood p. 3 I n 1873, Anna Boyd, Mary Comfort, and Eva Webb were unable to visit their families for the holidays. From their desire to make the best of their situation, they sought to create a home away from home at the Lewis School for Girls—Delta Gamma. Anchored in Tau Fast forward more than 140 years, 150 collegiate chapters, and 200 alumnae groups later, women around the world have been welcomed with open arms and encouraged to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, develop social responsibility, and the highest qualities of character. Through these tenets, our founders understood that the cultivation of self results in the cultivation of a strong Delta Gamma legacy. At the University of Iowa, our undergraduate members carry the torch proudly. Not only have they remained dedicated to their studies and facilitated many Chapter operations virtually during a pandemic, but they've shown true empathy for each other and the UI and Iowa City communities by taking safety rules seriously and protecting one another through personal responsibility. They are creating the foundation for the next generation's legacy. Become a Founder of Our Future Even now, as we make our way in life, each of us leaves our own unique mark on the Delta Gamma sisterhood. Today there is an opportunity to do so once more. As you read in the fall newsletter, the House Corporation used reserve funds to cover the unexpected costs of moving the sisters out last spring. Tau Chapter was able to do so specifically because of sisters who have contributed to our annual fund. That generous support is needed once more to replenish these funds and prepare the Chapter for future updates and emergencies. No matter the amount of time or financial resources given, your contribution speaks volumes. By making a gift today, you will join a list of loyal sisters who have chosen to continue their impact on Delta Gamma. You will become a founder of our future. Show Your Support Today Remember, your place in our Chapter's history is irreplaceable and by donating today, you are commemorating the special place you hold in our legacy. Join me in ensuring the bronze, pink, and blue remain a vibrant part of the University of Iowa campus.
