adno=3787851-1 Peace River Cardiovascular Center has been established with a goal of providing the best possible care to Charlotte County and surrounding areas. We rmly believe that achieving this goal requires commitment to many di erent aspects. We believe that to be the best, it is essential to have highly quali ed physicians and nurse practitioners, assemble the best team of sta possible, and deliver our care with the most current equipment and techniques housed in comfortable modern o ce surroundings. Our physicians consist of David Hotchkiss, MD, Nicolai Mejevoi, MD, and Melody Strattan, DO. All our physicians are well established in the area, having developed reputations for delivering cutting edge cardiovascular care while never losing site of the need for the utmost compassion and impeccable ethics. We believe that only in the combination of these two traits can a physician truly provide the best care for a patient. Our nurse practitioners, Diane Baldwin, ARNP and Nadine Martins, DNP, are equally well trained and experienced, allowing them to deliver excellent care in a con dence instilling manner. We pride ourselves on having a fantastic sta . Our sta has been hand selected and consists of only the most competent, caring, energetic, and team-oriented people. Much of our sta have been on our team for many years, providing a familiar and welcoming environment for our patients. This holds true for our nurses, technicians, front desk, and administrative sta . We believe that the only way to truly be a center of excellence is by investing in the assembling and maintaining of a sta of all-stars. While recent growth in our practice has necessitated the addition of a number of new sta , we have taken great care to insure only the best people who are capable of upholding and continuing our high standards have been chosen. Peace River Cardiovascular Center has obtained and uses only modern and well maintained equipment. Anything less would lead to unacceptable compromise of our standards. This holds true including everything from nuclear cameras to ultrasound equipment to exam room computers. We will always be willing to invest in the technology needed to deliver the highest standard of care. We feel our practice is truly set apart by its approach to patient care. We believe in spending the time to get to know our patients, understand their needs and wants, and rendering cardiovascular care in a fashion tailored to each individual. This allows us to deliver the most appropriate care and not necessarily the most care possible. Our physicians and sta are excited about the future of our practice and look forward to serving the community for many years to come. PEACE RIVER CARDIOVASCULAR CENTER The merging of modern technology and old-fashioned care 941-629-5356 4161 Tamiami Trail, Suite 701 Port Charlotte, FL 33952 D r. Fred Swing, owner of Acu- Heal Medical Acupuncture in Port Charlotte, has more than 50 years as a medical doctor and Anesthesiologist, and understands the balance and limitations of both Western Medicine and Medical Acupuncture. For the past 20 years, Dr. Swing has helped countless individuals with pain and other medical ailments using acupuncture. His passion for medicine and helping people live a happy healthy life continues today at his acupuncture location at 20020 Veterans Blvd., Suite 11 in Port Charlotte. His passion for learning continues as he recently completed an extensive training program in Miami to learn the latest techniques in acupuncture. Developed in China more than 3,000 years ago, acupuncture has seen many modern applications. !e treatment involves the insertion of needles at certain locations on the body, so-called "acupoints" that correspond to the di"erent ways a human body functions internally. Acupuncture adopted many new technologies during the 20th century - including the use of electri#ed needles - and during that same period became widely accepted worldwide. Today it's used in conjunction with Western medical practices and, on its own, can be used in treating physical pain and such internal disorders as colic and asthma. Its long span of use shows the value of acupuncture in helping those in all walks of life. !e classical Chinese explanation on how acupuncture works is that channels of energy, called meridians, are like rivers $owing through the body to nourish the tissues. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up the $ow in one part of the body and restricts it in others. !e meridians can be in$uenced by needling the acupuncture points. !e acupuncture needles establish the regular $ow through the meridians, unblock the obstructions at the dams and re- establish the regular $ow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments can help the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians. !e improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.
