Ready to start saving your money?
Make your own fun bank! You can use
any old container for a bank. An old
coffee can—cut a hole in the top plastic
and cover with cool paper, a bottle, a
jar, or anything that will hold your loot.
Or try making a paper mache piggy
bank with these instructions:
What you will need:
• Newspaper
• Balloons
• An egg carton
• Masking tape
• Flour
• School glue
• Tissue paper
• Foam paint brush
• Large cork
Day 1:
Blow up balloon.
Cut 5 sections out of egg carton.
Tape onto your balloon as "legs" and a
"nose" over the balloon tie.
Mix flour and water to form a thin
paste.
Cut newspaper into strips and put a
thin coat of flour paste on each strip,
and smooth it onto balloon.
Do that again and again and again. So
messy! So fun!
Put a few extra strips on the bottom
since you'll be cutting out a hole there.
Smooth down the pieces the best you
can.
After pig is covered in paper, let it dry
overnight.
Day 2:
Decide on your colors and what you
want your pig to look like.
Cut tissue paper into small squares
and rectangles.
Mix school glue and water to make a
runny glue that can be "painted" on.
Glue tissue paper onto pig.
Allow to dry overnight.
Day 3:
Make sure pig is dry and hardened all
the way around.
Cut a slit in the top, and a hole in the
bottom that's the size of your cork.
You should be able to pull the balloon
out of the bottom hole.
You can cut your cork in half so it
doesn't stick out too far.
