2 ALPHA DELTA HILITES FIGHTING THE SPREAD Alpha Delta remains hard at work stopping the spread of COVID-19. Although we are so ready to get back to normal life, we know that staying home and wearing a mask is best to keep our sisters and community safe. Mom Kim got her second vaccine on February 2, and Bridget Sisco '19 got her first on February 12 through her work as a Resident Assistant at Cedarhurst Assisted Living Home. She said she was super excited to get the vaccine and "felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders and gave me hope that all of this is nearing an end!" Snaps for that! We can't wait for our turn. GALENTINE'S BRUNCH Who needs a valentine when you have your Galentines! Sisterhood Chairman Paige Cannata '19 organized the most amazing, socially distanced Galentine's brunch for all of our in-house members on February 13. We had charcuterie boards, accoutrements, and Mom Kim's chocolate covered strawberries, of course! It was such a great time and a wonderful way to connect in the midst of this pandemic. NEW MEMBERS AND SMART SISTERS At the start of this semester, we welcomed 14 amazing women to our chapter! Our spring 2021 Bid Day theme was "Gamma Phi Stole My Heart," and these women definitely stole ours! Although Bid Day did not look the same, Bid Day Chairman Abbi Meyer '18 pulled off the cutest, pinkest Bid Day we could ask for! Even though last semester was filled with online learning and unprecedented obstacles, we still shined with a chapter GPA of 3.5. Also, over half of our chapter made the Dean's List, with 153 members earning around 3.5! MOONBALL 2021 Although we could not have our favorite philanthropy event, Moonball, last semester, we will be having a socially distanced Moonball and Grilled Cheese event this semester! Public Relations Vice President Mia Uetrecht '19 and Philanthropy Chairman Claire Donnelly '18 are working hard to create fun, pandemic-friendly events. Dates are TBD, and if you'd like to help out, you can donate to our Venmo, @MizzouGPhi. BEDI SUMMIT 2021 Our executive board, along with New Member Educator Ali Phelps '19 and our BEDI Chairman Jenna Gehricke '19, participated in Gamma Phi Beta's Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Summit. The event featured two amazing keynote speakers, Amanda Florence Goodenough and Lawrence Ross. The summit emphasized how to combat bias at our university and chapter, as well as how to have tough conversations and to listen to minority groups. It was an informative and eye-opening experience. It's been tough waiting this out, but we can't wait to welcome you all back to the chapter house when safer days return. Thank you for all your support!
