Page 24 - Rutherford Weekly JAME JAM S JAMES "DAVID" BURGESS BURGESS BURGESS James "David" Burgess, age 62, of Henrietta, NC, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013. David was born June 6, 1950 to the late Joseph Burgess and Bessie Davis Burgess. He worked as a police officer for the Forest City Police Department for several years and also for Burgess Body Shop. Before his retirement, he worked for J.C. Cowan for many years. He was a member of Henrietta First Baptist Church and loved working on tractors, doing yard work and fishing. David was known for his keen sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Barbara W. Burgess; one daughter, Nicole Burgess Klepper and husband, Travis of Inman, SC; three grandchildren, Harley Burgess, Camren Klepper and Trenton Klepper; one sister, Joann Jenkins and one brother, Dennis Burgess both of Dobbinsville. He is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the Henrietta First Baptist Church with Reverend Glen Wilson and Reverend Lanny J. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mr. Burgess. J.W. DALE J. W. Dale, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Forest and Lillian Mott Dale. J.W. was a retired textile employee and a very active member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Joe Beam of Rutherfordton; two grandsons, Joey Beam of Rutherfordton and Stacy Beam of Lake Lure; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Brooks Beam of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Betty D. CLAYTON HAMRICK C l a y t o n Hamrick, of Rutherfordton, NC, infant son of Jessica Cole and Shane Hamrick, Jr, entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 2, 2013. Clayton was born July 21, 2011 in Rutherford County, NC. He was known as a unique little boy who was unselfish, loving and a happy child who loved playing outdoors. In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Lora Cole of Rutherfordton, William Cole of Henrietta and Brian Krietemeyer of Rutherfordton; maternal great grandparents, Donald Smith of Bostic and Lillian Smith of Rutherfordton; paternal grandparents, Amy Lee and husband, Jeff of Harris, Shane Hamrick, Sr. of Asheville; paternal great grandparents, Debbie Hamrick of Spindale and Billy Hamrick of Spartanburg. He is also survived by four aunts, Olivia Roberson, Dalen Roberson, Paige Hamrick and Alexis Hamrick; two uncles, Michael Cole and Matt Cole and a host of other family members. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Steven Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. LORENE MULLINAX LEDFORD L o r e n e Mullinax Ledford, 86, of Mooresboro, passed away on Sunday, June 02, 2013. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was born on May 12, 1927, a daughter of the late R.G. and Martha Ann Mullinax. She was a homemaker and member of Prospect Baptist Church. She loved to cook and garden. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Voyd Lee Ledford. She is survived by one son, Danny Lee Ledford and wife Donna of Mooresboro; two daughters, Linda Ledford Powell and husband Ronnie of Mooresboro and Patricia Ledford Barnes and husband Ray of Mooresboro; her grandchildren, Sharla Migala and husband David, Andy Ledford, Steve Ledford, Ivey Taylor and husband Kenny, Jeff Powell, Sheena Davis and husband Aaron, Shannon Green and fiancé Chris Sims; seven great grandchildren; special caregiver, Deanna Powell. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Keith Dixon, Rev. Ernie Cole, and Kenny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. JAMES ALEXANDER QUINTON J a m e s Alexander Quinton, age 84, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013. A native of Cleveland County, but living most of his life in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late George and Amanda Worley Quinton. Jame e James was retired from NCDO C NCDOT with 30 years servic service and was a charter member of Main Street Baptist Church. He loved God, gardening, and singing gospel music. In his younger days he enjoyed teaching his five children to sing and took his children to sing in many of the churches in Rutherford County. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Whiteside Quinton of the home; two sons, Billy Quinton and wife Marsha of Raleigh and Johnny Quinton and wife Sandy of Spartanburg; three daughters, Irene Lett and husband Steve of Forest City, Ginny Tallent and husband Ralph of Forest City and Pat St. Clair and husband Eddie of Forest City; ten grandchildren, six step grandchildren, four great grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul Quinton; five sisters, Ruth Burns, Mirth Street, Geneva Street, Maggie Ensley, and Georgia Young, and one great grandchild, Brad Smith. Funeral services were held at Main Street Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brewer officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. CARTER DOUGLAS C a r t e r D o u g l a s Shires, of Ellenboro, NC, infant son of Amber Shires and Dustin Morrow, entered into to his Heavenly Father's presence on Friday, May 31, 2013. Carter was born June 20, 2011 in Rutherford County, NC. He was an angel sent to this world to show love, joy and happiness to his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and will always be remembered as God's little gift of joy. He is preceded by two uncles, Jamie Wright and Jonathan Hamrick and grandfather, Gary Thursday, June 6-June 12, 2013 Douglas Shires. He is also survived by one aunt, Keela Payne of Gaffney and uncle, Justin Butler of Ellenboro. TERRY DANIEL BAILEY Terry Daniel B a i l e y , age 59, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of John Layton and Rachel Skipper Bailey. Terry was a local business man and the owner of Wood Works. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Lyles Bailey of the home; sister Kay Bailey Addleton and husband Chris of Cairo, GA; nephews Blake Addleton of Lexington, KY and Ben Addleton of Athens, GA. ROBERTA R. STAINER Roberta R. Stainer, age 77, of Lake Lure, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Roberta Speller Reuter. Fredlund, age 77, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013. A native of Chevy Chase, MD, he was the son of the late John and Helen Miller Fredlund. Daniel is survived by his wife Frankie Smith Fredlund of the home. No services are planned at this time.
