A PUBLICATION OF THE ZETA PHI CHAPTER OF BETA THETA PI WINTER 2021 INSIDE: Challenges for Zeta Phi 2-3 Welcome, New Members 3 Chapter Officers 4 T he Zeta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi has upheld its strong presence at the University of Missouri. Through academics, philanthropy, and campus leadership, members have excelled, proving to be Men of Principle. STRENGTH IN THE CLASSROOM Over the past few semesters, Zeta Phi has finished above the all-male, all-university, and all-Greek GPAs, resulting in a second-place finish in the fall of 2019, third place in the spring of 2020, and second place once again last fall. Similarly, the two most recent freshman classes contributed strong academic performances, finishing in first place among new member classes with a 3.668 GPA in fall 2019 and 3.641 in fall 2020. We strive to maintain momentum in our coursework as we move forward and stay at the top of the leaderboards. GIVING BACK This past fall proved challenging to maintain strong philanthropy involvement due to coronavirus regulations and concerns. However, Zeta Phi partnered with Angels Arms, a phenomenal organization dedicated to providing and supporting loving homes for foster children. Through our partnership, we raised just over $3,100 in donations. Moving forward, we hope to resume other opportunities to give back to our local community and help in any way that we can. LEADERSHIP AND INVOLVEMENT ON CAMPUS Our chapter is extremely proud of our brothers who are actively involved and taking on leadership roles in various student organizations at the University of Missouri. Daniel Rhea '23 and Spencer Foster '23 each earned positions on the Alumni Association Student Board, joining Jack Fink '21 and Brian Baker '21, and Cade Koehly '23 was recently elected president. Daniel Rhea also participated on the Homecoming Steering Committee this past fall, while Stephen Bowen '23, Dylan Kay '24, and Fletcher Orr '24 are all members of the Associate's Program in the University of Missouri Investment Group. Jack Burgess '24, Stephen Bowen, and AJ Wilkinson '22 also brought home a first-place finish in a Mizzou-hosted hackathon called TigerHacks. STRIVING FOR ACHIEVEMENT As a result of pandemic, our chapter, along with others at the University of Missouri, faced hardship in successfully fulfilling university-based scorecard metrics during the fall semester of 2020. Our executive team is devoted to both internal and external improvement, and we know the active members of the chapter are too. We are excited to analyze our shortfalls and implement procedures to improve in the areas outlined on our scorecard. As we look ahead, we are all looking forward to an excellent year for the Zeta Phi Chapter. THANKS TO OUR OUTSTANDING ALUMNI We are all looking forward to a great end to the academic year, one in which we plan to excel as a chapter. As always, we offer our sincere thanks to all Zeta Phi alumni for your continued support.
