In Fayetteville, it seems it's always showtime somewhere. The Cape Fear Regional Theatre, which dates back to 1962, long ago established its reputation for memorable productions from classics such as "The Sound of Music," "The King and I," and "South Pacific" to the more whimsical "Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast″ and "Shrek." And nearly every Broadway in between. In 2021, the theater began an extensive renovation that included replacing the old seating with new luxury chairs and a state-of-the-art sound system. The venue in the heart of the historic Haymount district features a 285-seat main stage and contracts actors, writers and designers from throughout the country. Each year, the theater presents a six-show season along with education and outreach programs that serve varying socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, including the students from the area's schools. 1209 Hay St. Call (910) 323-4233.
