36 www.thejewelrybook.com Q and A Q: Jack, with this pandemic, we have all had to change the way we do business, how has COVID affected you? A: It hasn't affected us much. We stayed the course and did well, were closed for only 4 weeks and have been coming in full-time since May. We are happy to say that 2020 was good for us, having an excellent September and superb December. We did not let COVID hold us back, finishing the year strong and above expectations. Q: What was your secret for the successful year? How did you keep the momentum going? A: Our presence and being there for our customers every day coupled with professionalism, trust, integrity, and a niche in the industry kept us very active during these difficult times. We have a presence in the market place and specialize in rare one-of-a-kind ruby, sapphire and emerald, catering to a high-end luxury jewelry clientele that expects excellent service. We did our utmost not to miss and to fulfill every request. We followed all calls with high energy and infectious optimism. We strive to fully satisfy our customers, and have fulfilled calls for 10ct ruby, 20ct+ sapphire and 10ct+ emerald, all the way down to .8/.9mm melee pink sapphire, ruby and emerald. We did not sit and wait for things to hap- pen, we made them happen by being proactive. Q: Charlie and Gene, in our initial conversations, you both shared with me how Jack was conducting business. Your pas- sion talking about listening to Jack is what lead me to wanting to learn more. Can you share with all of us? The Jewelry Book Q & A's with Jack, Gene and Charlie of The Precious Collection. Q & A The Jewelry Book caught up with Jack Abraham, the gem connois- seur and design genius behind Jack Abraham The Precious Collection, and his sales team (and so much more!) Gene Edelstein and Charles Green. Jack entered the business in 1962 and started Jack Abraham The Precious Collection in 1979. The world has been through considerable changes since 1962. The current pandemic has affected all of us and see- ing how quickly Jack Abraham was able to adapt, I wanted to share how he found opportunity despite disruption. I have known and worked with Jack for over 15 years. Talking with him and his team left me with a feel- ing of deep admiration — I just had to share our talk with you.
