6 | 2021 Siloam Springs community guide A rthur Hulbert has been the President and CEO of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce since January 2020. Arthur moved to Siloam Springs in 2015 with his wife, Janet and three daughters Hannah, Emma, and Kami. Prior to Arthur's role as CEO of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce, he has owned and helped lead several small businesses that have experienced significant growth. In 2006, he sold one of his businesses to a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ, Amedisys. He then assumed the position of Senior Vice President with Amedisys and started another company that grew and provided healthcare services to 37 states and Puerto Rico in a remarkable 5-year time span. He also served as a state legislator in the Oklahoma House of Representatives until 2014. Arthur has a doctorate in physical therapy and has taught courses for multiple universities. He has also been published in the medical journal Current Orthopaedic Practice in 2009. He says he enjoys helping people start, build, grow, and transition businesses as well as look for ways to invest and serve people personally. We talked to Arthur on the anniversary of his first year as President and CEO of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce. Q: What are the qualities that you enjoy and admire the most about Siloam Springs? A: I enjoy Siloam's friendliness and history with a culture of Christian family values. Siloam is a great place to raise a family. It is also an ideal environment to start and grow a business. Q: What is unique about the town and the people who live here? A: e most striking feature to me is that Siloam Springs has many very kind and giving people with a spirit of service and generosity. Q: If you were describing some of the highlights of the town to an outsider what would they be? A: In addition to what I said above, Siloam Springs is a very clean town with great healthcare and educational opportunities. It is an ideal place to raise your family and do business. Q: Why is Siloam Springs a great place to raise a family? A: Siloam Springs is a safe, clean, and warm town with a beautiful downtown and outstanding education systems from the public schools to the private university of John Brown University. Siloam Springs also has many great places to worship and a strong history of Christian values. Q: What makes Siloam Springs a great place to grow your business? A: e people in Siloam Springs have a strong labor force with a great work ethic. e City of Siloam Springs Board of Directors is great to work with and welcoming to new businesses. ey are also open to reducing the regulatory burden many other cities have. Arkansas has great legislative leaders working to reduce taxes and decrease regulatory burdens. Q: What are some of the major projects coming up in Siloam Springs in 2021 and beyond? A: e biggest project coming up is the $33 million 30- acre white water park coming to the area funded primarily by the Walton Family Foundation. On the workforce front, Simmons Foods has greatly expanded and is continuing to expand. is provides many quality jobs providing high quality food for people and pets globally. Here at the Chamber, we are also planning on the upcoming Dogwood Festival April 23 through 25. Q: Closing thoughts? A: I am incredibly thankful and humbled to serve as the President of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce while surrounded by so many wonderful volunteers, business leaders, ambassadors, board members, and city and state leaders.
