Main - Quartzsite (one block east of Family Dollar) So it was bound to happen even- tually where I do a blog on the in- famous echinacea. There are many more herbs like it out there to help with the same issues....why do people consistently go to this one herb? In my research I found there was much more to it than I ever suspected. Echinacea belongs to the daisy family. There are 9 species of it, but only 3 are used herbally. It's com- monly known as the purple cone- fl ower. It has been widely used in natural medicine for over 400 years & widely used by the medical com- munity. It lost most of it's useful- ness after antibiotics caused a mas- sive shift in the medical world. Several of echinacea's chemical constituents include essential oils, Vit. C, inulin, fl avanoids & polysac- charides (which trigger immune functions). Research has found that the above ground parts contains most of the plant's health benefi ts. The German government approved the plant's above ground parts for treatment in upper respiratory infections, colds, UTIs (Urinary tract infections) and slow healing wounds. High in antioxidants such as cichoric acid & rosmarinic acid which help to defend against oxida- tive stress that can lead to disease. Benefi ts of Echinacea: *Boosts immune system *Combats viruses *Fights infections including ma- laria, typhoid & syphilis *Supports upper respiratory is- sues such as TB, whooping cough, strep, croup, colds, diptheria *Aids in mental health, taken in small doses *Relieves pain -- headaches, toothache, sore throats & more *Fights infl ammation *Great for stomach & overall gut health *Helps to treat skin issues *Cancer fi ghter, according to a re- port from NIH Now, according to research, echi- nacea works better once symptoms have appeared and it's not to be taken as a preventative. One should only take it up to 10 days, then take a break from it before continuing. Be careful of imitations as there are many out there, unfortunately. Ap- parently there are products out there that say they contain echinacea and they don't contain any! The extracts you see everywhere are essentially tinctures, so don't let that fool you either. It's safe & well tolerated for short term use. Use caution against taking too much. Do not use it for seasonal allergies. Use extreme cau- tion against injecting it! As I've been saying all along, do not take it on a consistent basis. I was not aware though about all the imitations and trickery involved. Again, do your research, ask ques- tions, be aware! You are number one! Number one! The top. That's today but let's look back at the past fi rst. Remember early 2020? (Or was it late 2019?) The toilet paper crises? You were number one in the nation then. I remember, I was in Arizona, my winter sabbatical, and there was NO toilet paper anywhere. All store shelves were empty. I got a phone call from a fried, "Run quick! The store has toilet paper!" "I'm on my way." I slammed down the receiver (oops, not these days) I pushed the red button, (doesn't have quite the same pizazz , does it?) Raced out to the car and exceeded the speed limit all the way to the store. Minutes later, I exited, proudly carrying 4 rolls of toilet paper for all the world to see. Those were the days. Hey, I learned something. Paper dinner napkins do not make good toilet paper. Oregon was not to be outdone. The Chief of Police in Newport, Oregon begged people to stop calling 911 because they were out of toilet paper. Really! They were jamming up the lines! Then there was July. Arizona was way up there in corona virus cases and you pulled together and brought the totals down. You showed the nation it could be done. Hooray for Arizona! But now? Arizona is "the hot spot of the world right now ." Joshua LaBaer, PhD, director of the Biode- sign Institute research center at Arizona State University said. He believes at least one in every 10 people in the state have the virus. "That means if you're at the super- market, there are people around you who have it, but they may not know it yet," he said. Look around you: at the store, restaurant, church. Count off ten people, one of them has the virus. Is it you? Or will it be you? Experts are warning about the quickly worsening COVID outbreak in the state of Arizona, which has been dubbed "the hot spot of the world," saying that the situation is much worse than what they saw over the summer. "It's way worse than July already, and it's going to continue to get worse," Will Hum- ble, head of the Arizona Public Health Association said. You can believe, or not. It's up to you. You know the precautions to take. You've been doing it and you're sick and tired of it. It's up to you. Quartzsite, you can become the next SS. SS? (Super Spreader) It's up to you. Nobody, nobody else. It's up to you.
