Inside 2 White Cross Society Supports Gamma Sigma 3 Celebrating a Lifelong Brotherhood 3 Welcome, New Members SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY FALL 2020 THE AUBURN SIG M uch has changed at Gamma Sigma in 2020. We were disappointed to evacuate the chapter house in March due to COVID-19 concerns, but thankfully reopened the doors of our beloved home this fall. We had the house disinfected, sanitized, and deep cleaned to prepare for the re- occupancy by the active chapter. The health of our undergraduate brothers has without a doubt been our top priority throughout the pandemic. Additional safety precautions we have taken include the installation of hand sanitizing stations. Of course there is an expense that comes with these extra cleaning measures, so we're always looking for other ways to save money. One way we're planning to cut costs over time is by adding shading in the dining room. This will help reduce power consumption and provide the undergraduates an ideal room to hold initiations and chapter meetings. It was important to the house corporation that the chapter house be in tip-top shape when the undergraduates moved back in this fall. We did exactly that by touching up all the walls, doors, and trim throughout the house. We also added security cameras and are assisting the actives with replacing the basketball goals. All things considered, we are in pretty good shape and are hoping for an uneventful rest of the academic year as far as upkeep and repair needs go. The men of Gamma Sigma are looking forward to once again using the house to its full extent. Unfortunately, we must remind alumni that the house is closed to visitors to prevent potentially exposing our undergraduate brothers to COVID-19. The only alumni allowed in the chapter house for the time being are the chapter advisor, Grand Praetor, and house corporation members. If you are in town for a game, we hope you enjoy your visit, but ask that you remain outside of the property if you swing by the chapter house. Also, please note that since the chapter is on social probation with Auburn University, we won't allow any alcohol on the property until the probation has been served and finalized. Our annual meeting was held on October 24. I enjoyed further discussing Gamma Sigma's future with everyone who joined via Zoom. Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions about Gamma Sigma.
