I t is certainly fair to say that 2020 hasn't been like any other year we've experienced here at Lambda Chapter. After sending members home following spring break, it was a time for all of us to look to the future and what it might bring and to plan accordingly. As many of you might have personally experienced, plans continued to change throughout the spring and into the summer. With so many unknowns, we made the decision to delay the bedroom renovations until a future date. Our focus turned to our historic home and what would need to be done to ensure the safety of our collegiate women when they returned in the fall. Together with our staff we devised a plan. I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly fortunate we are to have our house director, Colleen, and Chef Robert. You'll read more about both of them in this issue, but we are truly grateful for all of their time spent planning and preparing over the summer to ensure the safety of our members. As we welcomed the women back this fall, both Colleen and Robert were ready and worked closely with the advisors and executive board of the Chapter to assist our members while remaining extremely flexible and offering creative solutions. They have worked with both the members and new members to adapt to the new procedures and rules that are currently in place, while diligently following both the CDC and University guidelines regarding face masks, social distancing, visitation protocols, sanitation, hand washing, etc. Many of our members have shared with us their favorite inspiration from our Symphony that was written in 1905…to be discouraged never. These encouraging words still ring true today, more than ever, as we navigate these uncertain times.
