Gamma epSilon 3 OUTSTANDING BROTHERS Eric Hedley '21 and Chace Prothe '21 Discuss Their Summer Internships Eric Hedley '21 had the opportunity to intern at Koch Industries in Wichita this summer. Q: Can you give us an overview of what you did this summer for Koch? A: I did logistics for Koch Fertilizer this summer and helped manage a rail fleet of 30 rail cars across four terminals. I also helped with planning rail car loading and fleet optimization. Q: How did Beta Theta Pi help you prepare for this internship? A: Beta holds its members to a high standard and wants them to be accountable. This allowed me to hold myself to a higher standard so that my boss could count on me to be responsible with my role. Q: How did this role prepare you for your future career? A: This internship gave me a better idea of what a job would look like in the real world and allowed me to see how businesses truly work. It also gave me a deeper understanding of all the different jobs along the supply chain and allowed me to further hone in my interests. Chace Prothe '21 had an internship at American Century Investments in Kansas City this summer. Q: Can you give us an overview of what you did this summer for American Century Investments? A: I worked virtually for American Century Investments. I split my time between the personal financial services team and intermediary team. A majority of the internship was focused on learning about the industry and specifically the roles and teams that make American Century what it is. Q: How did Beta Theta Pi help you prepare for this internship? A: I saw a connection through the internship with Beta in that a group of individuals who did not know each other from the start came together to complete a common goal. In Beta, when you come into your first days at 500 Sunset you know no one, but you learn to work together. Through shared determination, you achieve your goal of being initiated. Q: How did this role prepare you for your future career? A: This helped me learn specifically what I want to do in the industry, network with other individuals, and meet other people my age who are going into the field. 1930s Jess Dalton '30 Edwin M.
