The S p h i n x FALL 2020 Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Beta Theta Pi B rothers, What a fall semester it has been so far! For Gamma Epsilon Chapter and all Greek organizations at Kansas State University, it has been a wild one. Programming has changed for everyone, but I am pleased to report our brothers in Manhattan are doing well. After an initial spike in COVID-19 cases, we have been able to control our exposure and are maintaining a safe environment for our members. One of the big changes to the chapter experience this fall has been Quenten Troyer '02. As a single dad with two kids, this has become a very challenging semester for Quenten, and because of that he needed to step away and focus on his family. We thank Quenten sincerely for the time that he put into Gamma Epsilon the past few years! After conversations among the advisory team, it made sense for me to step into the interim chapter counselor position until we can find a suitable replacement. I am excited about this opportunity to support our men, and look forward to working with them through this semester. If you know any strong candidates for chapter counselor or are interested yourself, please reach out to me directly. Someone relatively local is preferred, but we are looking into the opportunity for remote advisors. If you have passion and time, we can likely find a way to make it work. As the fall progresses, we hope to report more good news about our brothers and their semester. More than ever, we are looking for great stories to share about our alumni, so if you have anything you would like to share, let us know and we can include it in future communications. Finally, if you would like contact information for your era, do not hesitate to contact me directly! Look forward to hearing from you. Go Cats! We have decided to move forward with a virtual event to reconnect as brothers and celebrate Mom Lonker! As some of you may have seen, Mom Lonker was, again, awarded the Housemother of the Year award by Beta Theta Pi for the 2019-20 academic year. We knew this year, COVID-19 or not, would be her last, and we wanted to make it special for all the service she has provided to our chapter in the past. We will open the meeting with a celebration for Mom Lonker, and you can help by submitting your thoughts via the form below. We will compile these and make sure they get to her. Form Link: http://bit.ly/ThankYouMomLonker After we celebrate Mom Lonker, we will include some updates on the alumni experience, thoughts on next year, and then have opportunities for us to reconnect with each other. We hope many of you can find the time to attend this event. We will have more details to follow, including the meeting link and invitation. If you plan on attending, please RSVP here: http://bit.ly/GEWinterWebinar2020 SAVE THE DATE Help Us Celebrate Mom Lonker on December 19, at 6 p.m. CST
