Ties to Tau Delta Gamma at the University of Iowa Delta Gamma, University of Iowa P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested CHAPTER ETERNAL Shirley Summerville Kelly '49 entered Chapter Eternal peacefully on October 27, 2020. She met her husband Charles in college while studying sociology. Shirley was known for spreading unconditional love to all those she knew and then some. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, quick wit, and countless acts of kindness. Marcia Jenkins Pitkin '53 entered Chapter Eternal at her home in La Quinta, Calif., on May 7, 2019, following a long illness. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in art education and taught art and English in public schools in Iowa for several years. After raising her children, Marcia undertook training in Stephen Ministry, a lay caring ministry, and established highly successful programs successively in three cities: Iowa City, Iowa, Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Palm Desert, Calif. She is survived by her husband, Roy, their children, Barbara, Robert, Kathryn, William, and nine grandchildren. Ann Petersen '70 entered Chapter Eternal while in hospice care on October 24, 2019. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September 2019. Ann's personal papers have been donated to the Iowa Women's Archives, Alumnae Update which is part of the University of Iowa Library. Her Delta Gamma pins and other mementoes from her days in the sorority were included. She was a resident of Muscatine, Iowa. ALUMNAE NEWS Eleanor Crispell '46 shared that a group of DGs, called the Lunch Bunch, get together about four times a year to chat. This group has been active for more than 30 years. Eleanor lives in Sacramento, Calif. Mary Louise Anneberg Petersen '48 has volunteered for education all her life, including serving on the Iowa State Board of Regents from 1969 to 1981 and as president of the board for 10 years. The UHIC Peterson Residence Hall was named after her in 2015. She lives in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with her husband, Rand. Email: mlhrpete@gmail.com Jacqueline Fish Fieseler '50 lends a hand in her community by volunteering at the zoo. She and her husband, John, live in Viera, Fla. "I loved the article about Jane Daisley Riley '50 in the spring 2020 Ties to Tau. We were good friends for many years, and I watched with admiration as she raised four children as a single mother." Mary Ellen Foss Kimball '61 said that being a DG was the highlight of her years at the University of Iowa! Out of all the accomplishments, honors, and awards she's received in her life, the greatest are having married her husband, Dr. Jim Kimball, and having their two sons—Jeff, who lives in Budapest, Hungary, and Dr. Joe Kimball, who is a doctor in Winterset, Iowa. She lives in Osceola, Iowa. Email: kimball@ iowatelecom.net Cindy Hall Lorson '79 volunteered at Phi Chapter at the University of Colorado in Boulder as their financial advisor for several years when her children were young. In that capacity, she met fellow alumnae and CU collegians. In the past year, Cindy retired from teaching in the Boulder Valley School District and returned to Ames with her husband, Paul, where her parents live. She learned that a Tau sister, Joan Porter Wass '76, is a neighbor! "The world is a small place!" Ann reconnected with some of her pledge sisters who also had legacies at the initiation ceremony. She lives in Iowa City, Iowa, with her husband, Mick, and is the CFO at Hunter Companies.
