BUILDING ON A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE INSIDE: Generous Alumni Support Campaign 2 Alumni Spotlights 3 Chapter Report 4 Welcome, New Members 5 Standard Bearer The Fall 2020 Eta Chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Mississippi I n the 10 months since announcing the Building a Tradition of Excellence campaign, we've seen incredible growth in participation and signed commitments. We are extremely pleased with the response we have received from loyal alumni, not only from a monetary standpoint but also with your desire to reconnect with an organization that is still important to you. Since December we've gained more than $690,000 in new commitments, bringing the total raised to $2,081,529 from only 146 donors! Having reached $2 million with only a small percentage of brothers, we have no doubt that we can reach the $2.5 million goal—but it will take more of us. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Eta and we want every brother to participate in the renovation and expansion project. Rally your brothers for a class gift, honor a loved one through a five-year pledge, or gather your family to place your name on the distinguished list of donors. Our updated home will feature additional bedrooms, increasing our live-in capacity to 43. The dining room and common space will also be expanded to accommodate our growing membership size, and a new chapter room will bring brothers together for meetings and study sessions. We are eager to begin construction but are waiting for October initiation to take place so the chapter can hold the ceremony at the house. Due to a recent decision from the University, the house cannot be occupied during construction of the dining and common space. We will lease an empty sorority house to continue meal service and meetings. We look forward to updating you on our groundbreaking plans and are encouraged to see the response we have received so far to this very important and necessary campaign. We are excited to share updates with you in the coming months and are honored to be speaking on behalf of the Mississippi Sigma Chi Association and the Building a Tradition of Excellence campaign. There are many volunteers and current donors pledging their support to Sigma Chi. We are humbled at the thought of more brothers joining the effort.
