September 2, 2020 www.DesertMessenger.com 5 Rent and mortgage relief grants Annual 9/11 Ceremony will be cancelled The Salvation Army happenings Corner of Moon Mt. & Cowell • Quartzsite • 928-927-5400 QUARTZSITE'S ONLY YEAR ROUND SALON Cheyanne and Debbi ARE HERE FOR YOUR WE'RE OPEN YEAR ROUND! Hair, Nails, and Pedicure Services SUMMER HOURS: TUES - FRI We will hopefully have great reopening news in early September. Our re- opening plan has been developed and is awaiting approval from Salvation Army Headquarters in Phoenix. We will follow CDC and the state small business guidelines. The store will "look different" with several safety protocols in place. Masks will be required and with social distancing recommendations we will limit the number of shoppers we can accommodate at one time. Carts and baskets will be cleaned after each use. The store is pack with treasures, and we have so missed our amazing shoppers. Donations, those things "you would give to a friend", will be "self-sorted". You will put your items into labeled carts on the porch area. We are to hold items on porch for 72 hours before processing them. Again, we can only take a very few items of clothing that will need to be hung on rack outside. We will have the hangers for you. We can take small linen items like tow- els, pillowcases, blankets, sheets, but no comforters at this time. We just will not be able to take a truck or trunk loads until further notice. We will work together through these changes with patience and understanding. All these modifi cations are subject to change. We all will need to be fl ex- ible and loving to each other as we work together. I am continuing the curb sales of items on our Facebook page and curb sales of items that are requested by phone call. Life is beautiful. One day, one hour and one minute will not come again in your life. At the end of the day, all that really matters is that your loved ones are well, you've done your best and that you're thankful for all you have. Be kind and loving and thank God for everything. We will return to our normal summertime days and hours. We will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Hours will be 8am to Noon. Purchases can be made with credit cards and or cash. We will make change for you as needed. Remember you can always round off your purchase and put your change into Red Kettle. Hope to see you soon! Be happy. By Joanne Winer The annual 9/11 ceremony that is held at the Heroes Bell Gardens in Ce- lia's Rainbow Gardens will not take place this year. After much thought and a lot of worry about the risks involved to the fi rst responders and military participants as well as the number of people who come out for the event I made the tough decision that it was safer for everyone not to put them at risk It would have been very hard to get some people to wear masks when it will be so hot and social distancing would really be a problem. I am trying to fi gure out how to do some fundraisers and work sessions over the fall and winter so we can get the monuments worked on before the Heroes Appreciation Day comes again the fi rst Saturday next March. Hopefully by then we will be able to have the ceremony to honor all fi rst responders and the military as well as rembwribf 9-11 at that time. This virus has curtailed a lot of How are you son of activities for a lot of events but hopefully things will get back to normal soon we pray for good health for everyone to take care and stay safe
