Moory was born in New London, Connecticut on Septem- ber 18, 1942 and he passed away after a short illness on August 6, 2020. He was 77 years young and was a Navy Veteran. Dad loved to travel and tinker on his toys, he had a special love for his yacht and custom made motorcycle. He had the travel bug and never stayed in one place to long. He had his last trip to Seattle Washington with his longtime girlfriend E. J. Lefendre who will greatly miss him. He will be sadly missed by his twin daugh- ters Christine Rash and Caroline Mercado and brother Donald Yu- mans and his family. Jack J. Schneider Jack J. Schneider, passed away on July 16, 2020 at his home in Quartzsite, Arizona. He was 88. Jack was born on November 18, 1931 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Michael and Andrea Schneider. Jack was a resident of Quartzsite for over 25 years, where he owned his own store, Jack's Collectibles. Everyone who met him loved him and he had a very loyal customer base. Many of these were snowbirds who would stop into the store, each winter, just to say hi to their friend, Jack. His closest friend, Karen Jones, put it best when she said, "he was (just) a good guy." When he wasn't working, Jack enjoyed gambling and was a frequent visitor to all of the casinos up and down the Colorado River. Jack is survived by his son, Jack A. Schneider of Seneca Falls, New York; his daughter, Maureen Co- meau of Edmonton, Alberta; his sister Yvonne Derochie of Calgary, Alberta; 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. There are no services planned at this time. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Colorado River Funeral Services in Parker. Q U A R T Z S I T E - G r a n d p a r e n t s play a variety of roles in their grandchildren's lives. For many, a grandfather or grandmother is an additional loving adult who pro- vides positive, nurturing support early in life. For other young chil- dren, grandparents have taken their grandchild into their home and have taken on the responsibility of raising them. First Things First (FTF), Arizona's early childhood agency, knows that families can look different, but they can all help babies, toddlers and pre- schoolers feel safe and secure. As na- tional Grandparents Day is celebrat- ed on Sept. 13, FTF reminds families about resources that can help grand- parents build positive relationships with their grandchildren, which promotes healthy development and learning for young kids. FTF provides funding for pro- grams that are having positive im- pacts on grandparents and Arizo- na's children, including a statewide resource that can provide advice and support to grandparents rais- ing their grandkids. • 05-KIDS) is available to all Ari- zona families with infants, toddlers and preschoolers. This free program fields questions from families look- ing for advice and the latest child development information from ear- ly childhood experts. • The La Paz/Mohave Early Lit- eracy Project Arizona PBS provides free family-friendly resources to have fun with your child, and learn more about child development, positive parenting, health and liter- acy. For more information, contact Misty at (480) 869-0183 or Misty. Haas@asu.edu. • Parents As Teachers is a home visitation program open to grand- parents raising their grandchildren. Caregivers work one-on-one with a trained and caring parent educa- tor to build caregiving skills and nurture a child's health, develop- ment and learning. For more in- formation, contact Shelley Fischer at (928) 230-2305 sfischer@arizon aschildren.org. For a comprehensive list of what programs are available at no cost for children birth to age 5 in your area, visit: www.firstthingsfirst.org/re- sources/find-programs/. Resources for ways grandparents can help engage a young child and create quality early experiences can also be found on the First Things First website. The relationship between a child and a grandparent is a special bond and supporting grandparents in their special role will help young kids learn, grow and succeed. DEADLINE : WED.
