DDD Delta Xi Chapter at the University of Missouri Summer 2020 (Continued on page 2) F or nearly a century, our Chapter House at 901 Richmond Street has sheltered our members and bound us together in sisterhood. Countless memories have been made here, and lifelong friendships were created, giving us all a collective home away from home. As the years have passed, we have kept up with the times and maintained a traditional look and feel to our home's exterior, expanding first in the 1980s with the addition of the annex and again in 2014 with a larger expansion and remodel, allowing us more space for necessary membership growth. These renovations were vital for Tri Delta to remain competitive with other sororities at the University of Missouri. While our members are living in a home that is well-equipped for the needs of today's students, there are always improvements that need to be made. A necessary next step for us to remain competitive at Mizzou is to update the interior of our chapter house, creating a classic, light, and timeless design that reflects the Tri Delta we all know and love. The first floor will be updated to evoke a welcoming environment, as well as produce an updated study and leadership space, perfect for our members. The basement will also receive a fresh look—bright and sophisticated—while keeping with the casual atmosphere. In keeping with maintaining the integrity of the house, we will address a few external items, including replacing the roof and some landscaping concerns. In the coming weeks, you will receive a detailed brochure highlighting the project and the cost to complete this necessary upgrade. HELP US MEET THE $100,000 CHALLENGE PLEDGE BY NOVEMBER 1 Right now is the perfect time to make a gift to A Fresh Look for 901, as we have a generous sister, Linda Glascock O'Bryant '66, challenging every alumna to make a donation. Every gift made between now and November 1, Linda will match up to $100,000. That means by the end of October, we could be $200,000 closer to our fundraising goal and completion of our campaign. Your gift goes twice as far, so use the enclosed envelope to contribute today! Learn why Linda chose to support Delta Xi by reading her testimonial to the right. SORORITY HOUSING COMPETITION AT MIZZOU REMAINS HIGH Tri Delta is proud to attract many of Mizzou's top women every year. However, we know there are quality members being lost to other sororities and off-campus living. While we have updated our home in the past to compete with other sororities at Mizzou who have also invested in substantial housing upgrades, we also must compete with amenities offered in new and renovated on-campus housing, as well as luxury off-campus apartments. As we embark on this new journey for Delta Xi, it's important to reflect on your Tri Delta experience. Delta Xi has given each of us an irreplaceable experience; it is our duty to honor our membership and invest in the future of Tri Delta at MU. Linda kept her word, earning her bachelor of arts in graphic and industrial design from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and later an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. As Linda looks back on her college experience, she's certain that she earned her most important degree at Mizzou—a degree in friendship from Tri Delta. Before Linda left for Chicago, her Delta Xi mother, Joy Chiles Anderson '65, arranged a surprise shower in the sun room. Joy had also arranged Linda's first blind date with Tom! "After attending the various sorority parties, I knew exactly where I fit in— Delta Delta Delta," Linda said. "They were warm, friendly, and diverse with lots of personalities." Some of Linda's favorite Delta Xi memories include practicing with her sisters to win Greek Sing and being a varsity cheerleader with Barb Brown '64, Marsha Boyd Thompson '65, and Pam Banks Wilder '66.
