It's not often when you have every member of your team back from last year. But that's exactly the situation for McDonald County girls' golf coach Darryl Harbhaugh. "We have everyone back and have a year more of experience," Harbaugh said. "We got some girls that will compete, and I think we will play pretty well in some tournaments." Leading the returners is Lily Allman. Allman is a two-time state qualifier, including last year where she finished 31st at state after winning the district and sectional tournaments. "Lily sets the bar pretty high," Harbaugh said. "She has a great work ethic and (is) a great kid. I'll say it once again. We are in the toughest conference in the state because we have the number one team in the state. When you have a girl who can compete with those girls, that's pretty good. She is a good one and is fun to be around." Rounding out the returners are senior Anna Mead, juniors Jolie Stipp, Lundyn Trudeau and sophomores Kyla Moore and Faith Ogden. "Lily was obviously first-team all-con- ference and Jolie was second-team," Harbaugh said. "Anna was one stroke off of honorable mention and she is kind of determined to get that stroke back." Harbaugh said the girls won their first team trophy last year, taking second at Marshfield. He said the goal is to improve on that this year. "For the first time, last year we finished second in the Marshfield tournament and got a team trophy," Harbaugh said. "The girls were excited and I think they want more this year. I think we have some girls that are hungry. They kind of liked that." Freshman Kelsie Lilly is the lone newcomer to the team. "She has more potential than she knows," Harbaugh said. "She gets frus- trated pretty easily just learning to play the game. People realize when they first take up the game just how hard it is. It's a hard game to learn and it's a hard game to get good at. It's a fun game and its the greatest game of all." The Lady Mustangs open their season on Sept. 1 at the Springfield Catholic Tournament. Other regular-season tour- naments include Marshfield, Joplin, Carl Junction and Carthage.
