Numerous awards are given to undergraduate chapters and alumni. This year, Oklahoma Alpha led the region with four awards. The chapter won an Excelsior Award for Outstanding Volunteers, which is given for achieving sustainable success in our core operations. Former Chapter President Dylan Harden '20 won the J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Senior Award for our district. This is the second year in a row Oklahoma Alpha won this award, as Blake Giles '19 won it last year. Chapter Counselor Aaron Cromer '16 won the Outstanding New Volunteer Award for his work with the chapter and for developing a mentor board that regularly interacts with chapter officers. Finally, AVC President Todd Donavan '86 won the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The recipient of this award has produced positive, tangible, and sustained results for the betterment of SigEp for a minimum of 10 years. Todd's volunteering spans 26 years with such chapters as Oklahoma Alpha, Kansas Beta, Wyoming Alpha, and Colorado Gamma. Staying Connected to Brotherhood Oklahoma Alpha Men Commit to Excellence T he Oklahoma Alpha Undergraduate Chapter has faced a lot of disappointment and change due to COVID-19. With the premature closure of campus and banning of social gatherings, we were forced to cancel some of our most memorable and favorite events like initiation, Safari, Spring Sing, Hoop of Steel, and our planned Centennial Ball. However, despite the changes and challenges, brothers are rising to the occasion and adjusting incredibly well. VIRTUALLY LEARNING ABOUT LEADERSHIP The executive board is still committed to providing an engaging and valuable experience for our members. We have been conducting virtual chapter meetings via Zoom and have been focusing on membership development by having professional guest speakers like Oklahoma State Management Professor Jennifer Coonce, who spoke to us about leadership; TD Ameritrade Financial Advisor Levi Anderson '14, who addressed a wide variety of very beneficial finance topics; and OSU Football Coach Mike Gundy, who spoke to our SigEp only academic class. Along with this, we have been hosting weekly membership development Zoom calls to implement the Balanced Man Program and provide a place for our new member brothers to stay connected. To maintain connection and brotherhood, we have launched a virtual fantasy stock exchange game for our brothers to compete in and have been hosting virtual hangouts each week. STANDING STRONG IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 Brothers have also been hard at work on their studies and active in the fight against COVID- 19. We want to express gratitude and support to doctors and nurses who are risking their lives every day by fighting COVID-19. We launched a virtual philanthropy event and sold T-shirts online. All the proceeds went to Direct Relief to provide much- needed supplies to doctors and nurses nationwide. SEND US YOUR RECRUITMENT RECOMMENDATIONS The chapter's recruitment team has already been tackling the new challenge of virtual recruitment. The team has revamped our social media to provide an engaging recruitment experience online and has been contacting potential new members and meeting with them over Zoom. If you know a legacy we should contact, please reach out to Cameron Kahoe '22 at okalphavprecruitment@gmail.com or (405) 657-6104. COVID-19 has created a lot of challenges for Oklahoma Alpha, but we have adapted very well to keeping brotherhood as strong as ever.
