"Five generations on both my father and mother's side of the family have called Benton County home," Jim said. "e Singletons migrated to the county from Georgia some time aer the civil war and my mother's family came to Benton from Johnson County Arkansas in 1879." Like most Farm Family of the Year honorees, Jim found his love for farming at a young age. "My earliest memories of farm life is bottle feeding bucket calves on my grandfather's dairy farm," Jim said. "I would guess I was probably four or five years old. is instilled in me the love for animals and love for the farm life." e following years found Jim participating in 4-H and FFA activities and showing heifers at the Benton County Fair. Aer high school he went on to the University of Arkansas to earn a degree in Ag Education.
