Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Chapter Eternal Ronald Miller '61 entered Chapter Eternal on December 13, 2019. Aer enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1960, Ron earned the marksmanship sharpshooter medal and played saxophone in the 338th Division marching band. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and then started to work with Seagraves Company and Columbia Gas. Ron also served as a purchasing manager in the tableware and container division at Anchor Hocking for 19 years. Additionally, he worked as a materials manager for Toledo Edison's Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station and Cleveland Electric and Illuminating. Ron was a very talented watercolorist and trained at the Leland S. McClelland watercolor studio in Columbus, Ohio. At his private home studio, he specialized in painting historic Ohio properties, private commissions, and national landmarks, such as the U.S. Capitol and Philadelphia Hall. Several of his paintings hung on the walls of his father's congressional offices in Washington, D.C., and Lancaster for more than two decades. He was forever devoted to his loving wife of 59 years, Judie. Ron was a passionate father to his three children, teaching them watercolor painting, archery, fishing, and hunting. Alumni News omas Workman '66 was sworn in by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to serve as the Independent Member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) on March 29, 2018. President Donald Trump nominated him for the position in November of 2017. With the strong support from U.S. Senator Tom Carper '68 (D-DE), Tom was confirmed by the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent. FSOC was created by the Dodd-Frank Act in 2010 with the objective of keeping an eye on the U.S. economy and where necessary recommend salutary actions to state and federal financial regulators. FSOC has the power to designate a nonbank (e.g., an insurance company) as a systematically important financial institution. In such case, the Federal Reserve becomes an additional regulator of the entity. More information can be found at fsoc.gov. Tom and his wife, Pamela, live in New York, N.Y. I am proud to share that out of all Ohio State Interfraternity Council organizations, Beta Phi tied for first with Sigma Phi Epsilon with a 3.84 spring semester GPA and 3.6 cumulative GPA. Filling the Big Shoes of Our Graduating Seniors Along with celebrating our scholastic success, I want to send my best wishes to the 35 seniors who graduated this spring as they transition to life in the real world or continue their education. Beta Phi anticipates having 143 active brothers going into the fall semester, including 41 spring new members. My younger brother, Sam Folz '19, is one of those new members. I can assure alumni that Beta Phi's future is bright with the leadership of these brothers. Brothers Strive for Better Health for Everyone With the scheduled March Madness fundraising event cut short, Beta Phi raised approximately $3,000 for JDRF throughout the year. We also raised more than $15,000 for Buckeyethon, Ohio State's pediatric cancer research fundraiser. It's also been important to everyone in the chapter to prioritize our own health by social distancing in these tumultuous times of COVID-19. To my knowledge, all active Delts have stayed safe. e few family members who tested positive have recovered and are in good health. ank You, Emily! Unfortunately, we are losing Emily Perry, who has been our amazing house director of two years. Emily just completed her master of social work degree with a specialty in counseling at Ohio State. She has hinted that she may continue working in the Columbus area, so we all hope to see her around. Glad to Be in Good Hands at Beta Phi Beta Phi is glad to be in good standing with the university and IFC heading into the 2020-21 school year. ank you to Association House and Grounds Chairman Evan Webb '15 for doing a great job in his first year and to all the volunteers who donate their time and energy year aer year.
