However, this has not stopped our members' efforts to make us proud and prove every day that we are trying to be the best men we can be. Iowa Xi is excelling across the board, as our leadership team is persistent in the effort to keep the chapter moving in the right direction. We strive to get through these troubling times, in hopes of coming back next fall better than ever. We hope to continue Iowa Xi's legacy and are open to new ideas to further benefit the chapter. CHAPTER ETERNAL Edwin Carr '47 passed on to chapter eternal on April 5, 2019. Ed was born in Des Moines and attended Iowa State before enrolling in the V-12 Naval Training Program. Ed finished his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Minnesota where he played football for the Golden Gophers. After college, Ed was a com- missioned officer in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Bremerton in the South Pacific. After the war, Ed worked for General Electric and later went on to earn his law degree from Harvard Law School. He practiced law in Boston where he lived with his wife, Joan, and his son, Ted. Ed loved music, history, and international travel. He will be missed by his friends, family, and Phi Kappa Theta brothers. Thomas E. Bottin '66 passed on to chapter eternal on August 1, 2019. He was a Navy veteran and worked in finance at IBM, at one point overseeing all finances in the Australia and New Zealand over- seas companies. Tom remained dedicated to the Phi Kappa Theta brotherhood throughout his life through his generous gifts and volunteerism. In addition to being a major donor in our recent campaign, Tom also acted as an "era leader" to help inspire members from his age group to follow his lead.
