Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Texas H Spring 2020 Founded in 1884 A s the COVID-19 crisis drastically changes how we go about our lives, Alpha Nu wishes good health and safety to you and yours. I hope that you are practicing social distancing to do your part in flattening the curve during these uncertain times. An important part of pushing forward through this pandemic is reminding yourself of the things you are thankful for. It's safe to say that Sigma Chi is one of those things we all treasure. While it's disappointing that Alpha Nu and UT events are being canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus, I hope that you've been staying in touch with your brothers in recent weeks. BUILDING OUR BROTHERHOOD We've leaned on our brothers for support when we need it most, and that has been a staple of Alpha Nu's 136-year history. It is our responsibility to build on that tradition. This is a signature stage in Sigma Chi's history at The University of Texas, as Alpha Nu proceeds with the Alpha Nu... A Tradition to Build Upon campaign. A firm foundation has been set by the 148 brothers and friends of Alpha Nu who have raised $2,427,250 toward our minimum goal of $3 million. Thank you for leading the way in building our brotherhood, and please remember to stay up to date with your pledge payments. The donors who are listed on page 2 have stayed true to their Sigma Chi roots, but they only make up 10% of our Chapter's alumni base. Alpha Nu needs every brother pitching in to build the state-of-the-art Chapter House. Sigma Chi set us up for success after our time at UT and our undergraduate brothers and future generations of Alpha Nus deserve that same opportunity. CHAPTER HOUSE CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY Several big developments with the construction have occurred over the last few months. Demolition has begun for the new apartment areas and the Chapter House. Alpha Nu is working with Braun & Butler Construction and has reduced the construction costs significantly. The construction will commence on June 1st. Alpha Nu is fortunate to have one of its own providing architectural expertise on this project. House Corporation Construction Manager Trey Wattinger '78 has a great deal of experience with large development projects, and we are thankful for brothers like him who are committed to building on Alpha Nu's tradition.
