This department is open to junior exhibitors as defined in the Benton County Fair General Livestock Rules. All general livestock rules of the fair apply to this department. In addition, the exhibitors in this section are subject to the following regulations. • Eligibility and Rules as per the General Livestock Rules. In addition, exhibitors in this department are subject to the rules that follow: • All exhibitors must be an ACTIVE Benton County 4-H or FFA member in Good Standing at the time of Nomination/ entry as well as the fair. • Due to pen availability, pens will only be used for entries (no tack). A single entry maybe required to share a pen. Exhibitor must provide their own partitions. • Regulations governing time of entry and removal are covered in Schedule of Events. Entries must be in place by 10 am on Tuesday August 4. • Exhibitors will be expected to keep pens and animals in orderly condition or forfeit premium money. Offending animals may be released by superintendents and sent home. • Animals must be owned by, and in the possession of, and cared for by the Jr. Exhibitor who will enter and show the animal. Must be owned by May 30.2020. • Hogs must be classified by the Benton County Fair Swine Superintendent on day of nomination. The Nomination form for State Fair Entry does not constitute an entry form for the Benton County Fair. • Jr. Exhibitors will be limited to a total of (6) hogs. Only (3) of those can be Market Hogs. Owners must show their own animal unless they have multiple class entries. In such case, another Benton County Junior Member may show one for them. The exhibitor can nominate as many hogs as they wish. Exhibitors 8 & Under are limited to (3) hogs total and only (1) hog can be a Market Hog. • All Market Hogs to be shown by breed or breed characteristics and broken by weight within the breed Market Hog classes will be established by breed characteristics and will show together. Hampshire, Duroc, Yorkshire, AOB and Light & Dark Crossbreeds. A Champion Market and Reserve Market hog will be award. Superintendent will have the final say on breed characteristics. • Following the Market Champion Supreme selection, a Farrowed by Exhibitor in Benton County Champion will be selected from the market classes. • Market Hog/Commercial Gilt weights are 170-280 lbs. There will be no re-weighs between these weights. • Market Hog/Commercial Gilt weighing UNDER 170lbs will be sent Home, NO EXCEPTIONS! • An Official weight must be claimed on Tuesday, August 4 from 11 am -12 pm.
