This department is open to junior exhibitors as defined in the Benton County Fair General Livestock Rules. All general livestock rules of the fair apply to this department. In addition, the exhibitors in this section are subject to the following regulations. • Market Steers must weigh a minimum 1000 lbs. at the weigh-in / check-in at the Benton County Fair in August 2020. No exceptions to this rule. The scales used in the weigh-in will be the official scales. b) There will be no early weighing or reweighing of the calves. c) There will be no maximum weight. • All exhibitors must be an ACTIVE Benton County 4-H or FFA member in Good Standing at the time of nomination/ entry as well as the fair. • Market Steers must be a recognized beef breed or beef breed cross. • Steers must be dehorned or polled and as well as being in good health • Market Steers will be ear tagged at nomination. If a steer loses its tag, notify the superintendent of the Junior Show immediately. Nomination Date for Benton County Fair is February 22, 2020 This is mandatory for all steers that will be nominated & shown at the Benton County Fair. • Only Market Steers with no permanent teeth "in wear" will be allowed to show in this department. • Each Market Steer must be exhibited before the judge to be eligible for premium awards at the fair and to be eligible to sell in the Benton County Fair Junior Livestock Auction. • All animals shown must be steers, halter broken, groomed and of sufficient type and finish to represent the class in which they are shown. • Market Steers must be in place and will be weighed at 6 pm on Tuesday, or superintendents may adjust time if necessary. • Following the selection of Grand Champion Market Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer a Benton County Born and Bred Champion will be selected. • Exhibitors will not be allowed to enter and pay for extra stall spaces. Exhibitors will receive one stall space per animal even if extra stall space is purchased. Every effort will be made to provide an extra stall for each exhibitor. Tack isles are available to store feed and supplies. If you are bringing fewer cattle than you entered, please contact the superintendent of this department. This will allow stall assignments to be adjusted accordingly prior to the beginning of the fair rather than upon your arrival. • No aisle (butt) fans allowed. This is to include overhead fans attached to fan cages. All fans MUST blow south to north! • All animals will be inspected INSIDE the trailer prior to entering the barn area. If any animals on the trailer are contagious the ENTIRE trailer will be sent home immediately!
