Travel is one of the largest economic impact generators
in the na on, North Carolina and Cumberland County.
To recognize the value of the industry to our economy,
Na onal Travel and Tourism Week, which takes place
from May 3-9, 2020, was established by a congressional
resolu on in 1983. The theme for 2020 is "The Spirit of
Travel."
The spirit of tourism industry professionals makes each
community special, and those employed in our home-
town are no different. More than 4700 people are typi-
cally employed in the industry in Cumberland County.
These front-line workers consistently showcase the
spirit of service, sacrifice and perseverance. The spirit
also unites all residents, and our visitors experience this
first-hand.
Two weeks ago, the bureau launched a new video that
pays tribute to our community and its spirit of help and
sacrifice. #ThisSpecialPlace is a two-minute video that
speaks to the amazing people in Faye eville and Cumber-
land County.
