D uring President Eli Capilouto's tenure, the University of Kentucky has experienced a period of transformational growth, investing $2.4 billion in campus infrastructure. With 20 new dining facilities,14 new residence halls, and an enrollment that has exceeded 30,000, there is no better time to be a Wildcat. In 2015, the University of Kentucky reinforced its support of Greek life by creating a Greek Park on the main campus. Encompassing the existing Sorority Row, the centrally located Greek Park is bordered by Rose Street, Woodland Avenue, Rose Lane, and Columbia Avenue. Some Greek organizations have chosen to build new housing, and others have chosen to renovate and expand at their existing location. As a result, the Greek experience on campus has only been elevated. Built shortly aer the chapter's founding, our home has been part of Beta Psi's legacy for over 70 years. In the mid- 1960s, a two-story addition to the rear of the house provided kitchen and dining facilities and doubled the number of bedrooms. With only cosmetic updates since then, the interior of the house is showing its age. Aer considering options in the new Greek Park, Beta Psi House Corporation decided to retain our prime location. e appeal of our property on the corner of Rose Street and Columbia, directly across from the President's home, Maxwell Place, has only grown. e University built the Hilary J. Boone Center, a premier dining and special event space, on the opposite corner. Diagonally across, the University is in the midst of a major renovation of both the interior and exterior of the Chemistry - Physics building. UK has also closed Rose Street at the stoplight, greatly reducing traffic and creating a lovely plaza. While our location is most desirable, the house itself does not measure-up to the newly built sorority houses or the ones that have undergone major renovations. e ADPi house still has air conditioning units hanging out of windows, spotty internet service, and common areas that are too small to accommodate the thriving chapter. While Beta Psi continues to display tremendous strength, we know that first impressions are key. We must launch a major renovation and expansion of the house to continue our historic status on campus. We must act now to ensure that the ADPi house reflects its members and alumnae.
