Floods, droughts, and the need for rain is explored. Rain Author: Grace Hansen Ages: 3-5 Format: Hoopla nonfiction eBook This title is a terrific resource to introduce small children to water cycle science. Simple vocabulary and large text are used throughout. The images are crisp and aid in the retention of information. A wonderful book for beginning readers. Rainbows Author: Precious McKenzie Ages: 4-8 Format: Hoopla nonfiction eBook This cheerful little book examines the science behind rainbows and includes tips on finding own of your own. The Water Cycle (video) Publisher: National Geographic Ages 4-8 Format: TumbleBooks video This short video, only one minute in length, answers a few basic questions about water such as evaporation and recycling. Rainbows (video) Publisher: National Geographic Ages: 3-7 Format: TumbleBooks video This quick little video describes the role rain plays in rainbow creation. Color theory and optics are briefly discussed. Books with Spanish versions available On the top of the Springdale Public Library web page, change the preferred language to Spanish, and voila! Here are some of the book selections with Spanish versions. Many of them are available in e-books or audiobooks. The ugly duckling/ "El patito feo" (Picture book/E-book) Autor: Mercè Escardó i Bas Age: Baby -12 years Here's the classic story of an ugly little duckling teased by the entire barnyard. Embarking on a journey of adventure and discovery, the poor little creature eventually makes a triumphant, heart-warming return to his home. This traditional story is about being friends with people who are different from you. The e-book Spanish version is available in TumbleBookLibrary. Rain (Whatever the Weather)/ "Lluvia" (Board book) Autor: Carol Thompson Age: 2-4 years There's a wealth of sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures to discover and enjoy! In this series of richly illustrated books, Carol Thompson celebrates the immediate and sensory response of children to the natural world - whatever the weather! A Rainy day with hedgehog and rabbit / "Erizo y Conejo descubren la Lluvia" (Picture Book) Autor: Pablo Albo y Gómez Age: 3-6 years Rabbit is leisurely eating his cabbages in the garden, when suddenly… WATER! Cartoon facial expressions range from gleeful to panic-stricken. A four-page information section provides basic facts about each of the animals featured, the Inuit, and Arctic waters in general.
