Ties to Tau page 2 N o stage, dance floor, or competition has ever been too big for Claire '07, Caroline '07, and Morgan, Mu Chapter '11, but the event they performed in on February 2, 2020, was unlike any other they had experienced. Delta Gamma taught Claire, Caroline, and Morgan to dream big, which made their experience as Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders at Super Bowl LIV at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium that much sweeter. They danced with joy as the Chiefs claimed a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers for the franchise's first world championship in 50 years. "There are so many details large and small that go into the preparation and execution of such a large event. It was overwhelming at times, but I couldn't stop thinking about how much the Chiefs deserved to be there," Morgan said. "I'm really honored to be part of the organization as they truly value character, faith, and heart above all else. It really is a family, and getting to be part of their success at the highest level has been the greatest thing I've ever done." WITH DANCING FEET COMES HELPING HANDS The countless hours of dancing and cheering that the three women have put in over the past 20-plus years wasn't the only thing that prepared them to shine at the Super Bowl. While the Tau trifecta perfected several routines with their teammates during weekday practices and during Chiefs home games, it's what they did behind the scenes that has made a huge difference in Kansas City. The eventual 2019 season for the Chiefs Cheerleaders included visits to the University of Kansas Health System to spend time with pediatric patients and Fort Jackson to visit troops prior to their graduation on Veteran's Day weekend. They also volunteered with the Chiefs Kingdom Kids Trick-or-Treat Bash and Chiefs Kingdom Food Drive. "Being a cheerleader is in your heart. Anyone can be a cheerleader in this way, if they have a passion for others and for life. I wanted to be a Chiefs Cheerleader because they are world- class performers, but more importantly, they are incredible human beings and inspiring women," Claire said. "I wanted to be part of a group of women who would empower me to be the best version of myself. Chiefs Cheerleaders have servant hearts, and it's been a blessing to serve the Kansas City community for six seasons as part of this team." FROM ONE SISTERHOOD TO ANOTHER Joining the Chiefs Cheerleaders was a seamless transition for Claire, Caroline, and Morgan in large part because of their respective Tau Chapter experiences. Morgan has seen several parallels between the two sisterhoods. "Something about Delta Gamma gave me a feeling that it would be a place where I could find lifelong sisters while also making an impact on campus and in the community," Morgan, who has been a Chiefs Cheerleader for two years, said. "Being on the Chiefs Cheerleading team has made my experience at Delta Gamma come full-circle in a sense that they both have really shown me that a group of women can come together and be supportive and loving. Banding together makes us stronger and it has made me the passionate, driven woman I am today." Morgan came to Tau Chapter as a sophomore after being initiated as a Delta Gamma at the University of Missouri. She was a member of the Golden Girls at Mizzou and continued dancing in classes at Iowa. In Morgan's time as an undergraduate at Tau Chapter, many of her favorite memories come from recruitment. She enjoyed the luxury of picking the people she wanted to be surrounded by and building the chapter for future success.
