Here at Official Kids Mag, we are rather fond of octopuses. A recent
PBS NATURE documentary showed footage of a 'dreaming' octopus
revealing rapid color changes across its body as it appeared to be
sleeping.
The voiceover is that of David Scheel, professor of marine biology at
Alaska Pacific University.
'Heidi' is the octopus in question who lives in a tank in Professor
Scheel's home. The fascinating documentary shows some remarkable
discoveries about octopus behavior
including social interaction and even
how it appears to watch television.
But with a camera on Heidi,
Scheel observed for the first
time ever a rapid color change
while Heidi slept. He
believes Heidi was
dreaming about
catching a crab
but who's to say?
Nevertheless, the
video and the
documentary are
both fascinating.

EAGLE VERSUS DRONE
The Dutch National Police Force is training eagles to take
down drones. Eagles are, of course, master hunters. Based in
The Hague in Holland, a company called Guard From Above
is helping the police by training their eagles to take illegally
operating drones in flight.
The talon grip of a Bald Eagle is ten times stronger that the
grip of the human hand. The birds are not hurt by the blades
of the drones which they take to a safe place and where they
are given a reward for their effort.
