Hugh Fred Dietrich III '67 is a 2020 honoree
of the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame.
Fred has been actively engaged in Florida's
agricultural industry in a variety of capacities
throughout his life: a lifelong cattle rancher, an
agricultural educator, and an auctioneer. Fred
has previously been inducted into the Santa
Gertrudis Breeders International Hall of Fame,
the Florida 4-H Hall of Fame, the Florida
FFA Hall of Fame, and the Florida Auctioneer
Hall of Fame. He has also received the
National Agricultural Education Association's
Outstanding Educator Award, as well as its
Lifetime Achievement Award. Fred resides in
Orlando, Fla.
David Howard '85 was recently elected
president of the Citrus Research and
Development Foundation. This is a very
prestigious position and of great importance to
Florida Citrus. The mission of the foundation
is to advance disease and production research
and product development activities to ensure
the survival and competitiveness of Florida's
citrus growers through innovation. David is vice
president of agricultural operations for Grave
Brothers Company in Vero Beach, Fla.
Michael Puckett '85 completed the revised
two-story construction documents and sent the
documents to the general contractor to bid. He
has been a major component to the success of
our chapter house rebuilding campaign. Mike
utilizes his career knowledge to give back to our
chapter. He is the president/managing partner
for Ai Collaborative, an architecture firm in
Tampa, Fla. Mike's dedication to the future of
Alpha Gamma Rho at University of Florida has
not gone unnoticed.
Greg Steube '96 is the U.S. representative from
Florida's 17th congressional district, serving
since January 3, 2019. Greg still holds his Alpha
Gamma Rho roots dear as he just introduced a
bill to move oversight of H-2A visa program
from the Department of Labor to Department of
Agriculture.
Benjamin Butler '98 was sworn in on
November 14, 2019, as a member of the
South Florida Water Management District's
Governing Board. Benjamin was appointed by
Gov. Ron DeSantis. Benjamin is the manager
of Butler Oaks Farm, a family-owned dairy
farm. Butler Oaks Farm has received the
Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award
from the Florida Department of Agriculture
and Consumer Services. Benjamin has been
the director of the Okeechobee Farm Bureau
since 2007 and the president and past director
of the Okeechobee Youth Livestock Show
since 2008. Benjamin will serve as an at-large
governing board member representing an area
that includes Glades, Highlands, Okeechobee,
Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties.
