Omicron Chapter Always Alpha Phi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Spring 2020 O micron has exciting news to share! In December 2019, your House Corporation Board finalized the purchase of 912 S. Providence, which alumnae might remember was once the Francke Annex. Located immediately adjacent to our chapter house, this acquisition allows for future expansion of Alpha Phi's footprint along Providence Road. The purchase of this property has long been anticipated, and we were thrilled and ready when it became available. Omicron's original Tudor-style home opened its doors in 1923, then doubled in size after a significant renovation and redesign in 1955. Construction plans are underway to expand the chapter house. This will ensure members enjoy a facility that enables Omicron to remain competitive within Mizzou's Greek system. We anticipate creating unified gathering spaces to foster an environment of academic success and sisterhood, and provide enlarged areas for dining, chapter meetings and Initiation. In the interim, the brown-stone building will still be leased for student housing. This recent real estate transaction strategically positions Alpha Phi for the next 100 years at Mizzou. I look forward to sharing opportunities for you to become involved, as plans take shape in this exciting new era of Alpha Phi's beloved home on Providence Road. As always, thank you for your continued interest and sisterly support. AOE, Cathy McCrady Heinsohn '81 House Corporation Board President heinsohnc@charter.net Watch Us Grow! Gema Tenorio Simmons '91 found hers at Alpha Phi's Omicron Chapter, where the support system helped Gema adapt more quickly to the large college campus. "Alpha Phi gave me a second family, which felt more like the hometown that I had experienced." Because Omicron creates such a strong foundation to enhance leadership and communication skills, Gema's time at Alpha Phi strengthened her drive for academic excellence and her desire to volunteer with various campus organizations. One of Gema's favorite collegiate experiences was serving with on the Homecoming steering committee in the fall of 1993, with one of her siblings, Elizabeth Tenorio Davis '92.
