THE TAXI NEWS PAGE 3 A lpha Sigma Chapter has been active in a wide range of events and activities that include academics, philanthropy, recruitment, brotherhood, and sports. We are pleased with what we have accomplished and aim to finish the spring semester strong. Scholastic Success Alpha Sigma prides itself on its strong academic presence on campus. We have constantly been ranked among the top fraternities in academics with well above a 3.0 GPA. Philanthropic Pride We have enjoyed hosting three to four philanthropy events per semester. Some of our recent events include Walk MS to support multiple sclerosis research and Pie a Xi. At Pie a Xi, Bradley students pay to pie active members in the face. The proceeds generally go toward Habitat for Humanity. Building a Solid Foundation Alpha Sigma has slowly built up its membership to more than 20 members. We should reach 30 members in the next two years based on the average number of members we have recruited. Our goal has been to bring in eight to 10 new members for the past two to three years. Eric Winkleman '23 receives the prestigious Blue Iris scholarship from Craig Janus '00 and Executive Director Tanner Marcantel, Alpha Alpha 1675. Brothers share a Thanksgiving dinner. Alpha Sigma joins Alpha Chi Omega for a philanthropy event last semester. We served hot chocolate and a variety of cookies. Brothers clean up a disc golf course prior to a tournament for one of the chapter's service projects. Alpha Sigma Undergraduates See Progress Across the Board Special Bonds at Alpha Sigma Whether it be a cookout, movie night, or game night, we value our brotherhood above most other things. Some other brotherhood events include a Christmas party and a Thanksgiving meal together. We all have strong connections and bonds with each other that other fraternities don't often share. The Heart of Champions Alpha Sigma remains active in intramural sports. We usually field teams in four to five sporting events or leagues each semester. Theta Xi has been crowned Homecoming champion two straight years and have been a perennial power in intramural volleyball. Spring Cleaning Lastly, the house has received some much-needed updates, including a new grease trap for the kitchen, new partitions for the bathroom, a refurbished firepit, repainted walls, and the addition of some new beds in downstairs rooms.
