The Recreation department at the University of Arkansas provides a wide array of recreational facilities and opportunities on campus. UREC even has a one-stop shop for exploring some of the nation's best outdoor amenities and most spectacular hiking trails – all within a short drive from campus. The 225,000 sq. ft. Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) building is the largest recreation facility in the area. In addition to the HPER building, the university community has access to a new state-of-the-art fitness center located in the Arkansas Union. And that's just the beginning of what UREC has to offer: Fitness and Wellness Up for Zumba, personal training or a massage? You'll find a wide variety of fitness, wellness and leisure activities, all promoting a healthy lifestyle. Intramural Sports Intramural Sports is one of the most popular student activities at the University of Arkansas, serving over 3,000 students each year and allowing students to play sports on campus. The program is designed to provide students, faculty and staff an opportunity to participate in athletic and non-athletic recreational activities in a fun and safe environment. Intramural sports promote physical fitness, social interaction, and campus involvement. The university offers more than 30 intramural activities throughout the year, organized into team sports, dual sports, and individual sports. The various sports include: flag football, basketball, indoor and outdoor soccer, slow pitch softball, indoor and sand volleyball, track meets, and more. Club Sports Club sports allow you to find others that share a common interest in a specific sport while also enjoying the benefits of a group or club experience. Clubs include ballroom dancing, bass fishing, ice hockey, water skiing, and even quidditch. Clubs are regulated by program and university policy but retain the characteristic of self-administration and self-regulation. Members assume a variety of roles within the club and are called upon to assist in all aspects of club operations. UREC Outdoors Explore the outdoors through diverse clinics, adventure activities, and trips in the region and across the country. To get you ready, a bouldering wall, climbing wall, bike shop, and equipment rental services are offered on campus. Stadium Renovation is the new hog heaven! Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium has been the home of the Razorback football team since 1938. A total investment of $160 million added 315,000 square feet of new space to the stadium, 4,800 additional seats and improved the ability to move more freely around the facility. Now, ticket holders can circumnavigate the entire stadium on one level. The stadium renovation included complete re-construction of the North End Zone and Frank Broyles Athletic Center. Included in the new North End Zone is a new game day locker room and coaches game day offices, a field-level club, three levels of suites and two levels of club seats.
