Although live shows on a regular basis began in the early 70's, many loyal locals recall social events, dances, and music out in the old garden as far back as the 1930's. George's was opened in 1927 by George Pappas who ran not only a restaurant and bar from the location, but also a general store. The lounge has gone through several owners throughout the years with current owners, Brian and Day Crowne, taking over full ownership in 2012. Meteor 128 W Central Ave, Bentonville 479-268-1500 meteorguitargallery.com The Meteor is one of the area's newest live music venues located right in trendy downtown Bentonville. The venue is a restored hundred year old Movie Theater that has been turned into an impressive guitar store with over a thousand instruments and amplifiers, one of kind art pieces from many local artists and some of the coolest live music in the area. The intimate space can accommodate 370 people and you can even rent out the Meteor for your special event or party. Youth Theater Arts Live Theatre 818 N Sang Ave, Fayetteville 479-521-4932 Artslivetheatre.com Arts Live Theatre, a nonprofit children's and youth theatre company, was established in 1983 and incorporated in 1984 as a professional touring company bringing theatre to students throughout the state of Arkansas with an adult cast of professional actors. In 2009 Arts Live, with the acquisition of its new space, increased its production season from three main stage productions to two main stage musicals and eight second stage productions. In addition to productions, Arts Live offers a series of after school, spring break and summer camps for grades K-12 in theatre production, acting, television production, radio theatre, reader's theatre and more. Their mission and vision is to cultivate creativity, build character, strengthen communities and transform the lives of young people through exceptional theatre experiences. They celebrate the messy and joyful creative process. They give everyone permission to play, experiment and encourage sharing, reflection, imagination, exploration and creating work that is original and of value. They even have a Little Trike Series that provides theatre experiences to children ages 2 to 5 and their families in which they are invited to watch, participate, and learn through theatre. Museums Northwest Arkansas is rich with history and a diverse culture that is reflected in the impressive assortment of eclectic museums. Whether you want to explore the Native American history of the area, experience one of the finest collections of American art available anywhere in the country or just walk the hallowed grounds of a civil war battlefield, the area offers you an impressive selection of museums and educational experiences to choose from. Admission is free, donations are encouraged. The jewel of Northwest Arkansas arts scene is a world-class museum of American art. Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art was founded by Alice Walton and officially opened on November 11, 2011. The mission of the museum is to welcome all to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature. Crystal Bridges takes its name from a nearby natural spring and the bridge construction incorporated in the building, designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie. A series of pavilions nestled around two spring-fed ponds house galleries, meeting and classroom spaces, and a large, glass-enclosed gathering hall. Guest amenities include a gourmet restaurant on a glass-enclosed bridge overlooking the ponds, a Museum Store designed by architect Marlon Blackwell, and a library featuring more NWA Democrat-Gazette/Jocelyn Murphy Indie pop group Fitz and the Tantrums performed to a sold out crowd at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville.
