N ovember 10, 2019, was a day that Alpha Delta sisters of all ages won't soon forget. More than 300 sisters from all over the United States returned to Columbia to celebrate our beautiful new chapter house with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. Our first major donor, Deborah Bartels Snead '67, was the mistress of ceremonies. The alumnae library is named in her honor. We were thankful to have a special guest in Gamma Phi Beta International Executive Director Megan Smiley Wick, Washington State '93, who presented and participated in the ribbon cutting. She spent the night in the guest room and stayed up talking with many of the chapter members. ALPHA DELTA OBTAINS $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP With Founders Day falling on November 11, it was fitting to take time to recognize our amazing alumnae and share excitement about what the future holds at Alpha Delta. Along with showing appreciation to the sisters and friends of the chapter who have generously given to It's Our House! The Campaign for 808 Richmond, I want to thank CSL Management Company for their time and effort with this project. CSL presented me with a $1,000 scholarship to award to a chapter member(s). It was wonderful to have so many sisters and friends enjoy each other's company during the ribbon cutting, Founders Day ceremonies, and buffet luncheon. Alumnae spent time with our undergraduate sisters as they toured the new chapter house, further building the bonds that make Gamma Phi Beta at Mizzou so great. While the new chapter house is exciting, we won't forget the memories made in the old chapter house. One way we are making those memories live on is by giving major donors a decorated brick from the original house. WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMMEMORATE YOUR COMMITMENT? Speaking of bricks, we hope that you'll consider purchasing a brick to be placed around the sidewalk of the chapter house. To order a brick, please contact Christy Woltzen Ehrenreich '74 at christyehren@gmail.com or (636) 273-9665. You can also find more information on the Gamma Phi Beta – Alpha Delta Alumnae Facebook page. If you aren't a member of the group, please request to join. CAMPAIGN TO END MAY 31, 2020 As our Alpha Delta undergraduate sisters get comfortable in the new chapter house, there is still work to be done. On the record, we have pledge amounts and collected amounts in the neighborhood of more than $900,000. That is a far cry from the amount that is on the loan. While this has surpassed our original campaign goal, any additional funds contributed will assist in debt reduction and ensure we remain on track with our future financial footing. Please keep the It's Our House! The Campaign for 808 Richmond in your yearly giving or contribute to the campaign if you haven't already. When you donate, please send it directly to Gamma Phi Beta, University of Missouri, Payment Processing, P.O. Box 2187, Columbus, GA 31902-2187or visit our online giving link at https://tinyurl.com/y2g7uq5r. If you have any questions, please reach out to our campaign coordinator at Pennington & Company at (785) 843-1661. As Alpha Delta closes out its capital campaign on May 31, 2020, we welcome all alumnae to visit the chapter house this spring. Alpha Delta's annual meeting will be at 9 a.m. on April 11 at the chapter house. It's also not too early to mark your calendars for what will surely be another unforgettable experience next spring, as Alpha Delta turns 100. We hope to see you at Alpha Delta's centennial celebration April 23-25, 2021.
