ou expect challenges in a project of this magnitude and, yes, we
were tested from the beginning. Over 50 days lost to weather.
Several months of delays due to permitting issues with the City
of Stillwater. Cost overruns and missed deadlines. Was it worth it?
Damn right it was. Alpha Eta now has one of the most beautiful and
unique chapter houses at OSU. It is designed and constructed to
serve our chapter's needs for many decades. We are proud of what
we've accomplished!
The past two years have been brutal for our chapter. Trying to recruit men
to live in a dorm was very difficult. Unity was almost impossible as many
lived in apartments and basically became inactive. The rebuilding of
Alpha Eta took a major step in January when we moved 33 men into the
new house. Now, our goal is to add at least 30 freshmen next fall. Quality
is a priority, so it will take a couple of years to reach capacity, but Alpha
Eta's new home gives us the edge as we recruit men who meet a new
standard, scholastically and morally.
For alumni, the challenge is far from over. More than 140 men have
gifted or pledged over $3.5 million. Our goal is to have long-term
financing in the $2 million range, so we must continue our fundraising
efforts. Two large pledges will be lost, unfortunately due to death and
health issues, but successfully meeting the Darton Zink AH1400
$300,000 challenge match should take us to the $4 million level. We
must meet his generosity by collectively raising $300,000 by May 31.
We know we can get there together!
To accomplish this, we need alumni participation more than ever, and
only YOU can make us successful. If you have not donated, now is the
time to join those whose generosity is ensuring the future of Alpha Eta.
If you are already a donor, please consider increasing or even doubling
your gift as several men have done. Share the pride—join us today as we
preserve the traditions of Lambda Chi Alpha at OSU!
