CCF's goal to fund programs that enhance the quality of life for all in Cumberland County and surrounding areas resonates with Holmes. She particularly points to the interaction with donors who may have lost a loved one and want to establish a legacy. For example, the Cole Humphrey Memorial Endowment was created in memory of Cole Humphrey, a Cape Fear High School football and baseball standout. e endowment supports the school's athletics, especially the baseball and football programs. Currently, the endowment has provided more than $12,000 for the school and its students. "You meet the nicest people, and you oen meet them during their darkest hour," Holmes said.
