SAVE THE DATE A s we reflect on spring recruitment, Alpha Chi's executive council has our eyes set on growth. We had eight dedicated, high- quality early bids heading into recruitment week, and we ended up with a total of 14 by the end of the week. All of our active brothers are excited to welcome these new associates into the brotherhood. Keeping the goal of growth in mind, the executive council is focused on implementing new strategies to prepare for fall recruitment. With our GPA falling below the campus average this past fall, Vice President Michael Blanchard '19 and Scholarship Chairman Benjamin Murphy '19 teamed up to implement a GPA improvement program. Under this new program, members will be held accountable for class attendance, and those under the desired GPA will have mandatory study hours. We hope to set a higher standard for academic achievement moving forward. Our philanthropic efforts have never looked stronger. In the fall, our Haunted Trail event, where we partner with Dennis Daniels '90, had to be canceled due to the rain. However, we pivoted within the month and came up with the idea of organizing a campus-wide gingerbread house contest. It went very well considering the small amount of time we had to prepare for the event. Next fall, we plan to hold both events to raise funds for The Serious Fun Network. Alpha Chi brothers remain active on campus and in the Starkville community. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 33 active brothers participated in a community service project to clean a local graveyard. We held another service event with Sigma Nu to host a community item drive for Camp Kesem on February 24 at one of Starkville's local Walmarts. The event was a success, and we are always excited to pair with other Greek organizations to help better our community. I am very proud of the direction Alpha Chi is heading, and I am excited to see the heights we can reach in self-improvement and community involvement. We have a hard-working group of young men at Alpha Chi and hope to recruit others who strive for success. Our recruitment chairmen, Jarred Kimes '18 and Matt Prater '19, are dedicated to the growth of the chapter. If you have any recruitment recommendations, please reach out to us. We welcome all alumni back to the chapter house as we look to build a larger brotherhood here at Alpha Chi.
