Concordia Retirement Community was part of John Cooper, Sr.'s vision for Bella Vista, who wanted the community to have a place that provided continuing care and trouble-free living for seniors. "e Cooper brothers hand- picked the spot on the bluff overlooking Sugar Creek," says Concordia Executive Director Angie Clark. Making good on the vision, Concordia opened its doors in 1972. e main campus, high on the hill, contains both townhomes and apartments, with 20 additional assisted living apartments. A skilled nursing facility is located next to the Assisted Living property; however, it is owned separately. "We take pride in the fact that we've been around so long," Angie says.
