Medical Director, Riico Dotson, MD explains; “Physical therapy is integral and often critical in the success of the patient’s clinical outcome. I frequently contact the therapists treating my patients to exchange ideas and share information. The patient benefits when the physical therapists and physicians work together as a team.” That is why the St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine program is supported by Physical Therapy and Wellness Center of Red Bluff. Led by owner and founder, Ed Stroman, PT, ATC, CSCS, Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers a key component to a high functioning sports medicine team. “What makes physical therapists unique it that we are trained to look at the problem from a functional perspective rather than a structural one,” explains Ed. “Many times, if we address the dysfunction, we can bring about resolution of symptoms.” The St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine Program supports athletic programs and promotes injury prevention throughout the county. Often partnering with youth sports organizations and the Tehama County Department of Education, the St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine team donates countless hours on and off the field providing physical therapy, athletic training, orthopedic field coverage, CPR/First Aid training, sports team sponsorships and injury prevention clinics to name a few.
